WATER! . . . it's getting warmer!

Mom has been taking me to the city park where there is a creek that I can play in. We go late at night when there is no one else there and I can run around off leash. Tonight it was warm so I went for a swim and mom didn't care when I shook all the water off on her! Can't wait till summer time when mom swims with me!

Then we walked and walked and walked. I think I'm gonna sleep forever now. I'm in good shape, but mom still managed to push me a little bit.

Life is good

Yesterday we played in the yard a LOT with my squeeky duck toy. I love that thing! Then we went for a kindof short walk, mom said she got cold so we had to go home early. I didn't really mind though.

Mommy says we are almost out of dog food and it's still 2 days till payday, so she is making it stretch. I have gained weight over the winter anyway, you can't feel my ribs anymore so eating a little less is not gonna hurt me.

Mom has decided to go to school again to get a Vet tech certification next fall. She is also volunteering at the humane society right now since she has extra free time. She has been applying at jobs, but she has limited experience and the competition is stiff right now because SO many people are looking for jobs too. Really I don't mind when she's home all day, but she says it's boring.

Walk walk walk!

Well, mom got fired last November. Now I don't have to stay home alone very often! She walks me later at night now. We walk about 1.5mi to daddy's work for lunch, then walk back home again! I get really excited everytime mommy puts on shoes or a hat, because I believe that the ONLY reason she ever gets dressed nowadays is to take me on a walk!
Sometimes mommy cheats and rides with daddy to work in the car and we walk home. She says she only has to walk half as far that way. I can definately tell the difference, but she says so long as we walk everyday it's all good. lol

Tonight it rained, so we rode in the car and didn't walk. I like riding too.

Mom says she's going to eat ice cream and wear fuzzy PJ's until spring, screw that job hunting stuff.

Doggy Backpack!

Mommy bought me a doggy backpack yesterday! It's purple and it fits me good! It has a poop bag despenser, which mom thinks is cool because she doesn't have to carry the bags anymore.

Mom read that you could put weight in the pockets to give your dog a better workout. Soup cans or water bottles were recomended. Since I can walk forever without tiring mom figured I needed a little more work in my workout. Today we started off light with a can of Sardines in each side, later we'll work up to soup cans or small sandbags, whatever works best.

I'm getting older. We went to the vet the other day and got more Advantage. Mommy was excited because I have weighed the same for about 5 months. She says it's good that I'm not getting fat, or losing weight.

New collar!

My new training collar came today! I was so excited, the collar is almost like a treat because it usually means we are going for a walk! My old one was getting too tight, and mommy had already added 4 links so she bought the next size up!
There are 2 new pictures from today, I weigh over 40lbs now, much bigger than my last picture.

I'm so big!

Well mom tried to put my harness on the other day, figures I've outgrown it. I outgrew my training collar too and since mom already added 4 links to it she decided it's best to buy the next size up. We can't go on walks till I get another one though.
Dad weighed me tonight, I'm up to a whopping 40 lbs! Mommy is very glad that I'm big-enough to jump into the truck now!

we got cats and I went to the vet

I have new playmates! A few days ago, Mom and I were out walking and had a little sprint down this road and a little tiger striped tabby kitten came out meowing at us! He followed us half way home until a larger dog scared him off. Along the way we also found a smaller/skinnier black tuxido colored kitten. After mom took me home she went back and picked them up. They hissed a lot at first, and I got my nose scratched, but I still love them.
Everyone seems to be adjusting nicely. I even shared my lunch with them today.

Yesterday I had to go to the vet. I ate some BBQ hickory wood from the front porch and later barfed it up. I didn't eat anything all day and threw up water all night so mom worried about me. Of course I tried to pretend that I was fine, a few minutes before we were gonna leave I decided to eat my chicken after all. The vet said that I appeared very healthy and I weigh 26 pounds now! Last time mommy weighed me I was only 16 lbs. No wonder I've been eating more! They charged a whole $10 to stick a q-tip up my butt for a fecal sample, and like $20 to look at it, and like $20 more for a deworm shot (so that I wouldn't throw it up) but they couldn't find anything else wrong with me. Mom figured I was ok since I started eating again, but we just had to be sure.

I got a harness & treats!

Mom got me a harness yesterday. It helps to keep my leash from dropping between my front legs and getting tangled up. She also got me a hunter orange vest for me to practice wearing before hunting season opens up. I hear she's planning a week-long camping trip! She also got me a bully stick and this rubber stick toy. It's much softer to chew and it doesn't leave wood chips all over the floor like real sticks.

I grew

I finally grew into my new collar. It's still big, but I'm not in danger of losing it.
