Thank you Brandy III and dear Mom for this beautiful picture. xoxo

Today I walked across the back yard by myself in my- wheelie...

Today I walked across the back yard by myself in my wheelie because Momma and Daddy were sitting and talking. I wanted to go back out to the side yard and play again and they were not fast enough for me so I did it on my OWN!! Also I'm walking around the house, wobbly... but I'm up and about isn't that great? Momma says she thinks the wheelchair is helping to ease my back and hip making it so I can exercise more. Maybe get strength back into my leg again. She feels I'll need the wheelchair most of the time but maybe I can get mobile inside the house at least. She is going to buy me some booties so I won't slip on the linoleum again.

Momma says I'm doing very good!!

Hi everyone I wanted to update you on everything that is going on. I got my wheels and am doing very good with them. The first couple of days all was so strange to me and even though I didn't resist the wheelchair I had no clue what Momma was doing to me! Plus there are a LOT of adjustments to make making sure I have the best fit for me. One big plus Momma said is I am able to eat, drink and go potty way better now. ;)

Last night Momma played a game with me (ended up giving me a tummy ache but it was fun and Momma won't do THAT in excess anymore!!). She laid out treats just out of my reach and I had to follow them, just like Hansel and Gretel!! I walked all over the house following the trail of treats.....so did Georgie! :))

Today I actually walked DOWN the ramp on my own (Momma holding the leash she has attached to the wheelie to guide me) and I walked all over the yard with Momma only having to help me out of some rough spots. I'll learn how to maneuver those too eventually. I walked UP the ramp ON MY OWN two times today!! Momma is SO very proud of me and how smart I am (she said so!)

After dinner she took me out, I am not allowed to stay in it for long periods yet and never over 3 or 4 hours every so I won't get sore spots. Well after I came back inside I kept scooting around the living room floor crying. Momma had NO clue what was wrong, she just brought me back in not long before. Well I scooted over to the wheelie and kept nudging it. Momma asked if I had to go peepee and I cried louder. She put me in my wheelie and took me out and boy I went right away!! So Momma praised me over and over for being such a good girl and so very smart.

Here are three pictures to let you see how I am so far. These were taken the second day after I got the wheelie. I still was uncertain, you can see it in my eyes but doing good no matter. Momma will get newer pictures of me as the days go on.

Picture one is me at breakfast lining my carrots up because I DID NOT WANT TO EAT THEM!!! :)) It looks staged but I promise you they are NOT!! ;)

Picture two is me in the kitchen waiting for my dinner. xoxoxo

Picture three is me outside. I am WAY better now than in this picture. {{{hugs}}}

Momma will take more pictures of me and you will see that I am way more assured than in the last two pictures I posted.

Here's a PUPDATE to what is going on with me.

Here's a PUPDATE to what is going on with me. Mom once again posted it on Facebook because it's the fastest way to get the info out to family and friends together without having to repeat herself. Mom is so very "body tired" it's unbelievable. Some is the recovery still and a lot is just stress so just remember her when you pray.

We had to order the front part of the wheelchair for Caroline, she needs the stability and hopefully it will help strengthen her back some. Again barring any delays in shipping we should get that tomorrow. Once she's up and going again I will post pictures of her in it.

Also I'm going to STICK HER NOSE IN THE CORNER FOR 17 MINUTES!!! (One minute time out for each year!) She SCREAMS at me to do her bidding!! She wants to be wherever I am and if I am not fast enough she starts screaming and crying. Also when she's in her sling she wants me to run with her so she can run and bark with the boys! I tell her I just CAN'T!! She pulls me over! :))

Seriously I don't mind and I'm playing about the "time out" but I can't help but think of it!! I think she's funny overall, but I do get that feeling like when you have a crying baby in the back of the car and you have to resist driving faster to get where you're going!! :))

(Down in conversation.....)

If I could figure a way to hide my phone so I could take a video of her when she throws a fit I would do it Mary!! :)) She will scream and howl, then I will barely peek around the door frame and she stops. Move out of her sight again and boom, back to her screaming and howling. Joe just shakes his head at her!! :))

Thank you everyone for my birthday gifts and wishes....

For those of you who may be wondering why we have not been- on Dogster....xoxoxo

For those of you who don't go on Facebook I will post here what has been going on lately and it will explain why me and my furmily has been missing. Georgie also posted this in the Doghouse prayer thread.

April 4th.

Please keep Caroline in your prayers, she slipped on the kitchen linoleum and now is having a very difficult time getting up and around. If she's not better by morning I'm taking her to the vet. It's her right hind hip/leg that's been giving her problems for quite a while now.

April 5th.

Thank you everyone for your prayers. I took Caroline in to Doc Boden this morning and she is home with me now. She has nerve damage in her spine causing this, so she is off the Nsaids and he gave her a steroid shot with Carafate for 3 1/2 days along with Tagamet to guard against tummy upsets.

I had made a makeshift sling for her last night to take her out and help her around the house. It's really great, saw it on YouTube when I was looking to see if I could make one. This all happened so late I had no time to even think about buying one already made. I will post the video link so you can see it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGFECxUWkd4

Anyway it helped immensely and we took her in this morning using it. To avoid all the dogs inside the waiting room we "walked" her around in the grassy area. Doc B came out and looked at her and knew immediately what was going on. Suggested a K9 Motility Cart for her, said she was a great candidate for one seeing she is so alert and adapted to the sling so well in such a short time. I ordered the cart and it is on the way now. He said in all other ways she is so healthy and no way was she ready for Rainbow Bridge yet.

Oh and the cost of the cart is so near the price of a wagon which we were considering a week or so ago it's amazing!! Had NO CLUE wagons cost that much these days, Wowsers!!

Again thank you all for your prayers, we appreciate every one and love you all!!

April 6th.

If you don't see me much here on Facebook just remember I have lots to do taking care of Caroline and also myself. (I'm really still recovering from surgery)

I have so much to learn about how to train her to her motility cart and also comforting her until she can get mobile again. She's very stressed not being able to get where she wants to be. I don't blame her at all but my mind is so distracted now. Of course when I have time to relax I will be here some.

I am suspending activities at The Doghouse/Dogster for a while, I just don't have the energy, inclination or the time to entertain. Maybe sometime in the future all will settle but right now I have to take care of what is truly important.

Please keep me in prayer that I learn quick and do it right with Caroline.

We took Caroline out and let her lay in the grass to bark for a while. She had fun. Can't wait til her wheels are here and we can begin training. Right now we "walk" her in the harness. Finally got a real one today that is padded and stays in place, it's a lot easier on her. The other was great in a pinch but sure is not for long term use.

She's doing good and boy am I learning. She got stuck under my bed last night scooting around. I woke to her crying and thrashing about. Omd I thought she was having a seizure. I got up and looked and she was stuck about 4 inches under the bed. I got her out and settled then went back to sleep. About 2 hours later she woke crying and thrashing again...she had scooted herself around and got tangled in her sweater!! Poor baby wanted a drink, we keep water nearby always. I know now to take off all sweaters, etc. at night for her. We are getting a cart for her to take her outside, my arm and back just can't handle lifting her anymore. It's surprising how heavy 32 pounds are after a while. I'm so thankful this house has a ramp going out to the backyard so I don't have to maneuver steps.

Back on duty barking at the world ♥♥♥

The motility cart (wheelchair for her hind legs) should arrive by April 9th barring any delays. I will come back and post pictures of her in it. :B:B

Just keep us in prayer Mom has so much to learn and need to take care of herself also along with it.

It has not been the greatest week..

It has not been the greatest week. Actually all winter I have been having problems. My legs joints seem to be trying to go the same way as Neddy's. I have been into the Vet for this and on medication, which helped me at the beginning of Winter. The last few weeks I have been having a hard time walking or getting up from when I've been sleeping.

Last year, if you remember, I went down and could not get up. Momma had to help me out of the sitting position for nearly 2 weeks. That's when Dr.Boden put me on Rimady. I was doing really well when I went in December for my check up. Then about two weeks ago I tripped and fell to my side making me limp with my left hind leg. Now I'm having a problem with my front legs from putting more pressure on them. I don't cry out but that is not an indication on how much I may be hurting. I tore the nail out of it's bed two years ago and had to have surgery to repair it. I got it stuck in the security screen and jerked it out before Momma could help me. I did not cry out at all. In fact Momma would not have known how bad it was if she did not see blood everywhere.

Momma will be taking me to my vet on Monday if things have not changed. She is afraid I'm going to hurt myself worse being unstable like I am. Please anyone who may read this keep me in prayer. My Momma and Daddy are very worried about me. I still have a wonderful appetite, and still try to chase the cats away from my kibble (not that I can catch them),:) so that is great. My attitude is good, I'm not grouchy at all and still my same loving self. It's just that I cannot walk steadily. Please no rosies..that's not what I'm asking for at all. Just your love and prayers.

Love Sweet Caroline xoxoxo

It was a LONG day at the Vet yesterday!

It was a LONG day at the Vet yesterday! We spent over 2 hours there!! I kept trying to leave cuz I was sick of it!:)) I kept pulling Momma to the doors trying to go home.

I was checked to see how I'm walking and I'm doing very well on the treatment of Rimadyl once a day and the Glucosamine I'm taking. My heart is doing great and then I had to have a comprehensive blood test. That part was the hardest for Mom and Dad to wait for. Well they had to take Georgie in today and they got the results of my blood test back. It is all PERFECT!!!! Yay!!! Mom was so happy to hear good news she almost cried. She said it was the best $300.00 she's spent in a LONG, LONG TIME!

Georgie was a pip though! He was being a cocky rooster and had just got done putting his nose into a plant in the waiting room that was SOAKED with male markings. He had to hike REALLY BAD to return the call...so not finding anything else he hiked on Mom's leg!!:-O She forgot where she was and said loud..Georgie what did you DO??? That was the best part and all the office was laughing including the doc and patients AND Dad!!

The best part of today is that George's heart murmur has been downgraded from a grade two/three to a grade ONE! That means the strict diet of no salt and the Enalaprel is working!!! Mom is so happy she feels like she's floating!! It has been a very good day! xoxoxo

Love Caroline

ADOPT 2012 CONTEST

We lived in Arkansas in 1997 and where we were staying, a pickup of two men with a back bed full of pups came up into our yard. They told us that if we wanted the pups we could have them and if not they were either going to turn them loose in the woods or shoot them........well, needless to say, we adopted the whole litter. They were shared among the family , and now we have 2 left of these dogs in California, and placed the one who was too big to be in my small California city yard, on a cattle farm in Arkansas. His name is Butchie and he is TOP DOG and goes with his new Daddy everywhere. He became a cattle dog. We have had these lovely dogs since they were 5 weeks old and blue eyed babies and promote adoption 100 percent.

Caroline is now 15 years old and adored as one of the family.
