I went to the vet this morning. Mawmee was so proud of me for getting in the car without any problems. I'm not good if someone tries to pick me up, and with my back legs being weak, they were concerned I couldn't get in the car. Since Mawmee's car sits low, I got in the back seat on the floor and Daddy sat with me.
I was super glad to see Sarah, our favorite vet tech, cause she knows exactly how to handle me. I went in the back exam area while Mawmee and Daddy stayed in the regular exam room.
The vet lady came in and said she wanted to do x-rays. She had trouble feeling my belly because I was pretty tense. She was concerned about my breathing, so she did a couple of x-rays.
Unfortunately, the x-rays showed spots in the lung area that appear to be cancer. The in-house blood work they did showed only a slightly elevated white blood cell count. She said if it was just an infection of some kind, the white blood cell count would be much higher. There was fluid in the chest area, and that is why I've had a little bit of noisy breathing.
Because of my age, and the highly unlikely cure of lung cancer even if other measures were taken, it was decided that I would get some antibiotics and some nausea medicine right now, and go home to see how things go.
Of course, Mawmee and Daddy were very sad. But, I've sure had a wonderful few years living here. I've become a good dog and I have a big backyard that I love, and I have learned to enjoy getting brushed!
Thanks to all my Dogster friends for woofing me your prayers, and for all those sweet kitties on Catster who are purring for me. Maybe a miracle will happen, and I'll be around longer than anyone thinks! Keep on woofin' and purring because I know that it helps!
