Last night mom took me out to do my nightly bathroom ritual. It was very, very dark. As soon as I was out, I growled ran in a circle and then stopped. My ears were back and my tail was between my legs. I was staring at a black blog moving about 4 feet in front of me. Mom didn't have her glasses on, so couldn't make out what the blob was. She came to me and put two fingers in my collar and I let her lead me up the stairs and into the house. Now pups, this never happens, if something is in my yard, I would never let mom lead me away with only two fingers in my collar.
Mom leaves me in the house, finds her glasses and the high beam flashlight and goes back outside. She sees the blob walking, and shines the light on it. It is the biggest porcupine she has seen in a while. She thinks I must have had a flashback to last September when I said hi to a porcupine and wound up in E.R.
Mom came back into the house, and put my lead on, I still really needed to go to the bathroom. With leash in one hand and flashlight in the other, mom leads me to the backyard, I quickly do my business and race for the steps to come in.
Be careful out there pups!
We're glad that you avoided that critter last night! It sometimes takes humans many tries to learn something. This took you just one time - you are a VERY smart dog!
WOW Abby - we've never seen a porcupine! you'd better be careful out there!
