(Written on Friday, July the 19th, and tranferred to Dogster on July the 23rd.)
This is Friday, my 4th day of living on Palmetto Street. I like it here. This morning, my humans took me to the vets. At first, I thought they were taking me back to the pound, so I whined. Then I noticed we weren't going exactly the way we came, so I quit. When we got to the vet's place, I thought it might be a different pound because it sure smelled like one, so I whined some more. But when the vet said she would see me, and all she did was give me one shot that protects me from rabies for 3 years! She didn't need to do anything else because the people at the pound already examined me (my people brought my papers from the pound), I guess. I even got an ID tag! It's red and shaped like a fire hydrant, with my name and phone number. I got a rabies tag too. (Cookie had also gotten her ID tag from the vet. It was shaped like a purple bone. My humans didn't want us both to have the same shape. We DO have rabies tags that look the same though. They look like green bells.) On the way home, we stopped at Chick-Fil-A for breakfast. My humans got most of the food, but I did get two peices of chicken. Yum! I gotts go, but before I do, I would like to share a peom with you:
The Perfect Sheltie
There's no such thing as the perfect dog
People will say to you
And when it comes to Shelties -
Boy, is that ever true!
Some are too big and some too small
Some hardly have any hair at all
Some are too bold and some too shy
Some have a short tail or a big round eye
Crooked legs and splayed out toes
Prick ears and hound ears and odd coloured nose -
The perfect Sheltie just can't be made
But here's one thing that's really great:
To be perfect in their owners' eyes
Shelties only need one part
And every Sheltie I ever met
Had that loving Sheltie heart.
Hope your day is as much of a tail wagger as mine was (after the vet, that is).
