Arrival Story:
Pepper was our Christmas gift, this year. We called around all over the place looking for a chocolate lab. You wouldn't believe how hard it was to find puppies this time of year! Let alone puppies with the proper paperwork and vet work done. Finally, we talked to a breeder only 20 minutes from where we lived. She only had black labs, but even on the phone, this lady sounded like she knew exactly what she was talking about, and she had everything we were looking for. We decided to make a trip, just to see what kind of puppies she had for sale. First we met momma, daddy, and uncle Bob. A black, a yellow, and a chocolate. Then, she brought in the babies! Each baby had a string around their neck of a different color. This was the breeder's clever way of telling them apart. As the babies were being born, she would put a string around the puppies neck, of a certain color, in order of the color spectrum. Pepper was number two, and thus, had an orange string around her neck. Her temporary name was Pumpkin. Well, the moment Pepper (or Pumpkin) came into the room, she trotted over to our feet, curled up right on top of them, yawned loudly (which she still does today) and went to sleep. If she wanted to see what everyone else was doing, she would sit up, but never leave our feet. We knew she was the one, already, but to make us more sure, when we picked her up, she nuzzled her nose right into our neck. She was perfect! Much like Ginger, we took her home that very day!

Bio:
Pepper is now 9 months old, and causing even more hell, now that she's teething again! When she's not chewing up shoes, pulling uncooked steaks off the counter, and annoying her big sister, Ginger, she's laying right at our feet, just like she did when we first met her. She is ALWAYS at our side! If she's not, we just know she's getting into trouble. In fact, when she was smaller, one of our methods of discipline was to pick her up, and put her on our laps, belly up, until she calmed down. Well, she ended up enjoying this so much that, we think, she STILL gets in trouble just for that! She recently found out what it was like to swim in a pool (actually, a lake) bigger than the baby pool she has in the backyard. Though her first jump in was a bit of a shock--she jumped off the dock, and went under for a solid 3 seconds before coming up, very surprised--she's already in love with the water, just like her big sister! She's already learning, from our long walks through the woods, how to stay within our sight at all times. Her big sister makes sure of this! Pepper is adorable, always smiling, energetic, loving, and the biggest trouble maker you will ever meet! But then again, she IS a puppy!
