The day I met my Mom

Mom, do you remember the day I came home with you? I was at the old animal shelter. You walked past the cage where I was, but I was so far back in it, that you didn't see me, I was scaredand trying to hide! When you came back by, you stopped, my little heart was beating so fast. Then you leaned over, read the card, and looked deep into the cage, saw me, and broke all the rules. You reached in, and picked me up, held me close and started talking in such a soothing voice, that I stopped shaking, and licked your face, remember that Mom? I was so happy, then you said, I'll be right back little girl, don't worry. You snatched that card off the cage and hurried away, I didn't know WHAT was going on. I waited at the gate a few minutes, then went back to my hiding place, sad. Then all of sudden, I heard your voice, and I gave a tiny whine, then the lady that works at the shelter, reached in picked me up, and handed me to you. You were crying Mom! You said you were so happy and that I was getting to come home with you. We went to the car, and off we went. I was kind of afraid, but when we got home, you didn't hit me, or anything, even when I tinkled on the front porch! You just picked me up again, and we went through the house to the back yard and you put me down with a laugh and said come on baby girl, lets get to know your new yard, when we get through, we will go in the house, and let you see everything there! I ran around, sniffed everything, but always made sure you were real close, I just could not figure out what was going on! After a while, and me pooping, we went inside, and I got to go EVERYWHERE in the house that you did! That was awesome, and I was feeling a little better about this new place.

I got to meet Dad that night, when he came home, and he was SO tall, but very gentle and nice, I loved him right away too. I got to curl up in his lap, while you fixed dinner. I remember all this Mom,I really do.

I got to live with you until, one day some mean man, who I trusted, gave me a piece of meat, that made me sick, and I died. I miss you Mom and Dad, and I hear your tears still, even though it is over a year since I went to the Rainbow Bridge to wait for y'all.

I had almost 4 great years of love with you.
