We just got electricity and mom will update my diary tomorrow. But, we wanted all of our pups and peeps to know we're okay. Lot's of cleaning up to do, but we were very, very blessed. I kept a journal everyday and mom will put them in my diary soon. We're going to bed and enjoy sleeping with the a/c on! Mom hasn't slept since last Friday, so we're hoping she can get some sleep tonight!
Thanks for all of your prayers and please continue praying for the other pups and peeps who have yet to get electricity. The electric grid was 95% gone after Gustav came through. And, while there was no one to rescue on the roofs, it was pretty intense for a while there.
Mom's been packing since 2:30 this morning, and Pops came over this morning and helped her secure all the outside stuff. Now, we're watching the hurricane coverage on TV and I'm bored! Mom took down the gates to the back yard because they would blow lots in the wind and probably break, so she wouldn't let us go outside. The gates are 8 ft wide each, so they're pretty big. Now that the weather dude says Gustav won't make land until tomorrow morning, we were just waiting and getting bored. Mom finally put some tempory gates up and let us go outside on the porch. There's nothing to play with outside! The sun is shining and there's a little breeze. Hard to believe that a storm is coming. I'm glad we live here where we have enough warning to get out of harm's way. But, the waiting is hard. Mom says she wants to take a nap, then starts doing stuff again. She filled up a lot of containers with water and put them in the freezer. She said it's so when the electricity goes out, our food in the freezer will still be cold. Good thinking, mom! Please make sure my food is okay! We're waiting for the evening news to tell us where Gustav is and then if he's going to be here before noon tomorrow, we're going to go to Granny's tonight. If he won't be here until noon or after, then we'll spend the night in our beds and go to Granny's in the morning. I don't like bad weather, so I hope we get to Granny's before it gets too bad.
Granny doesn't have the internet, so once we leave we won't be able to check on our pals. I hope all our pals and peeps in the storm's path stay safe. We'll keep you in our prayers, and when we can get back we'll check in on you.
Mom just opened her email and I'm in the Daily Diary Pick!!! Woohhooo!! Everyone has been in it but me - thank you, thank you, thank you for choosing me! This is just so cool - now I'm speechless. Everyone knows I usually have wonderful things to say in my diary, but now I can't think of a thing. Wait! Mom has to give me a treat - that's the law!! Cool! And, it better not be just some on Mother Hubbard treat, either. I want an extra special, no one has had it before, treat. I'll let you know what I get, dogs!
