 Quick Bio:
Likes: Riding in the car. Laying in the dirt with sunshine on him, chasing squirrels, but most importantly, sleeping on the couch. All the simple things in life.

Pet-Peeves: Overactive puppies - he tolerates them but prefers they play somewhere else.

Favorite Toy: Real beef bones.

Favorite Food: Are you kidding, this dog is a hound. He just loves to eat!

Favorite Walk: You name it, he loves to go anywhere - even the Veterinarian's office.

Best Tricks: Catching treats, balancing biscuits on his nose & "leave it". We can put a steak in front of this guy & tell him to leave it - he won't even look at it!

Arrival Story: We got Toby from a shelter when he was about 9 months old. We wanted a dog we could train for therapy work & he turned out to be a great dog for this kind of activity. At just over fifteen years of age, however, he's now retired from therapy work & enjoys his leisure time at home with Burney. He's also involved now with helping to socialize our 6th CCI puppy Wycech. They get along well, but the puppy sometimes has a little too much energy for Toby, as you might imagine.

Bio: Toby was certified by Therapy Dogs International, Support Dogs Inc. of St. Louis (his home town), the Delta Society and Fairfax County (VA) Pets on Wheels. Toby was called to action following the Sept. 11th terrorist atacks, where he worked with the families (mainly children) who had lost loved ones at the Pentagon. One little boy who quietly played with Toby for a couple of hours had done nothing but cry for several days, having lost a family member at the Pentagon. It was hard for this boy to comprehend what had happened to his life, but his interaction with Toby & the other dogs helped him cope with the tragedy. Toby received a certificate from Defense Secretary Rumsfield for his therapy work. He has also obtained his Canine Good Citizen rating and has done therapy work at Stanford University Hospital as well as many nursing homes. He's just a great little dog.
