Playing with Chucky the Beagle in the yard, chasing squirrels

Does NOT want to be picked up or ride in the car; lays down if we put a leash on her!

Favorite Toy:
Chucky the Beagle and her stuffed squirrel

Favorite Food:
Whatever we are eating

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere in the yard she chooses

Best Tricks:
Stalking squirrels, keeping track of Mommy

Arrival Story:
Sasha was born under the house next door and was evidently abandoned by her mother (intentionally or not, we don't know.) Our other dogs kept barking at the fence, day after day and we didn't see anything for the first few days. The neighbor was never home. We finally lured her over with food, but it took two weeks before we could touch her and a month before she would come in the house. Now she sleeps on the bed almost every night.

Also known as the American Dingo, Carolina Dogs are a primitive breed and thought to be the original dogs on this continent, keeping company with Native Americans. We found out who and what she was completely by accident, watching a National Geographic TV special "In Search of the First Dog." We turned it on by accident and there was Sasha! On TV! Since then, we have found many helpful websites and articles to help us understand her better. Oh yeah, she has a black tongue.

Forums Motto:
Sasha is "on patrol"

My life on my acre

Something is going on next door! Daddy has been over there a lot and even Mommy goes over there and plays with the trees! There are lots of big people coming and going and now there is a square thing in the middle of the dirt. Mommy says we are "moo-ving" soon, but I don't know what that means. I DO know I need to keep an eye on all this activity. It makes me nervous.

I sure hope "moo-ving" is a good thing. Last month, Mommy put me in the cage in the car and took me to "the vet" and they poked me and cut my pretty long fingernails. I did NOT like that one single bit!

OK, gotta run now. Lots to do -- gotta check up on next door.

Big moon

The big moon will be up tonight. I can hardly sleep when the big moon comes. I may sleep under the trailer tonight, so I can keep an eye on it. It is very important to patrol at night when the big moon is in the sky. Strange things sometimes happen when the big moon comes . . .

I have an important job; I patrol our acre. I alert my mom and dad when strangers come near our fence. I keep the squirrels up in the trees where they belong. One of these days, I'm gonna catch one of those squirrels on MY dirt and I'm gonna teach them a lesson!

I used to have two sisters. One of them is gone. I don't know why, but daddy, mommy and grandpa put her in a big hole by the big tree. Now there is a pretty stone there with her face on it. My sister, Scrappy, is still not right. I must make her play more so she will be happy again. Maybe she would like to borrow my squirrel.

Time for my nap; much to do later.
