   Leave a bone for Duncan

D-Dog, Dunk, Duncster, Duncan Man, Valentine, Beagle-icious...too many to mention!

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:
-pound dog

Smelling smells, begging for table scraps

Being woke up

Favorite Toy:
Rubber balls, stuffed animals (which he tears to shreds in short order)

Favorite Food:
Everything he can finagle -- hot dogs and bacon, yes -- but also raw carrots and celery -- anything mom is eating

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere off leash - we love to go hiking & camping together. Duncan acts like a walk down the block tires him out these days, but boy, take him out in the woods and he'll go & go & go, sniffing all the way.

Best Tricks:
Giving "The Beggin' Paw" and those pleading eyes...

Arrival Story:
Duncan was my first dog ever - I didn't grow up with dogs. My husband & I talked for a long time about the decision to get a puppy. We found Duncan at one of the local shelters, in a kennel with his littermates. He was the one in the back, not up there jumping for attention like the others. Nonetheless, he did have plenty of puppy in him, as I discovered when I took him home and he chewed everything in the house, and chewed me relentlessly too, and peed and pooped in every corner. Totally unprepared for the job, I used to cry and lament, "this puppy hates me"!! LOL. We surely bonded though, and as an adult Duncan calmed right down into the angel that he is today.

It's been 12 years or so, and what a journey Duncan & I have had! He's moved with me from state to state, and stays with me as boyfriends come & go. He changed my life! I have been involved in the Animal Welfare world ever since he came along. Volunteering every weekend at the local animal shelters, and then getting Duncan trained to do Pet Assisted Therapy at children's hospital and retirement homes....and then moving to Utah to work at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary....and now, working at the local Humane Society in Covington, Louisiana. (And doing some wildlife rehab volunteering on the side.) It all really started with Duncan. He is amazing beyond words.
