I've Got the Mopes

Dear Diary,
Daddy dragged me to the Vet today just 'cause my eyes are dripping down my nose! Aren't they s'posed to do that? Well, anyway, the Vet (who's really a great guy) put some stuff in my eyes 'n' now I'm all groggy. Well, part of that could be because I spent most of yesterday afternoon and this afternoon at my fur cousin's playing in their yard. That really wears me out. Maggie, my youngest fur cousin, is also my LARGEST fur cousin. She's a Golden-Doodle and never, but never, runs out of energy. She could also sqush me if she ever sat on top of me! Now I hear Daddy coming 'n' he's got that "drops" bottle in his hand. Gotta run, Diary, 'n' I do mean RUUUNNN!!!!

Here is How it Goes:
Hi furs, if you are reading this you have probably recieved a paw mail, telling you to come and read my newest diary entry!! For the furs that don't know me well, I am going to introduce myself a little bit!

Hi, my name is Baxter and I am a Boxer. I am 3 years old! If you don't already know, I ran away 4 days ago, but if you read my previous entry, I am having a blast *wink*! I started this game to get furs praying for me to return home! Here is what you do!

Please say a prayer for me and pass this on to 10 furs! The goal is to see how many prayers we can get!

Baxter's Prayer: Lord, please help me to find my way home safely. Thank you for all you do, I love you.

You Should Have Seen Me!

Dear Diary,
You REALLY should have seen me! I was flying (and so were the ducks!) Mommy 'n' Daddy were walking me at our park. We go there every day sometimes three times. Well, there's this pretty large pond in the park with a fountain 'n' lots 'n' lots of ducks....mallards, pretty white ducks, 'n' Canada geese. (I really do not like those geese....they're bigger than I am 'n' nasty sounding.) Somehow, I got wrapped around Mommy while we were walking 'n' Daddy had to drop the leash (he says) and Voila! I ESCAPED!
Of course, being of sound mind 'n' body I did what any self-respecting 'senji would do. I charged down to the pond, through the gate and flushed out that flock of flying feather-heads right into the middle of the pond! You should have heard the squawking! Well, a good bit of it was coming from Mommy 'cause she thought I might run off. (As if...! I know who gives me treats 'n' a soft bed to sleep in.) She should have known that there is no way in this world or any other that I would actually voluntarily set paw in the water! The ducks didn't know that either so they were screeching in front of me 'n' there's Mommy screeching behind me. Anyway, I had achieved my goal 'n' flushed out the enemy, so I glanced up, saw Daddy standing there, sniffed the air at Mommy, 'n' walked right up to Daddy with The Look that says, "Pick up my leash 'n' let's go home now! My mission has been accomplished." So, he did 'n' we did. End of story 'n' beginning of a lazy afternoon of reminiscing 'n' sleeping.

I'm Ready for Spring!

Dear Diary,
It's really just too, too much for a pup to bear. We suffered through sub and near zero weather for most of January. But, really, February could have been kinder 'n' given us some relief. We had maybe 3 days of 50+ degree weather in February 'n' now I hear it's going to be 14 degrees tomorrow. Are we going backwards or something? My paws are tired of slipping 'n' sliding on ice 'n' crunchy, crusty snow! Mommy schlepped with me over to the park today for our midday walk 'n' it was not much fun! She's such a flat-land ninny that she does not walk in snow very well, so I had a mini-walk. Not enough sniffing time at all. Well, that wasn't too unfortunate cuz I think my nose was in danger of plopping right down off my face. The wind-chill was around 10. Mommy had this "I-can't-feel-my-cheeks-or-lips" look which is pretty scary to see when you think about it. We're only a few weeks from spring 'n' I think next year we ought to bring that ground hog out 'n' blindfold him so he can't possibly see a shadow and doom us to another long winter like this one has been!

We've Been From Pillar to Post!

Dear Diary, did you think I'd forgotten you? Nope, I've been traveling. I've been from pillar to post to pillar to new post, another pillar and now to my Home Post. (I hope!) #1. We left 21 Dec. at 9:00 AT NIGHT...that's my bedtime, thank-you-very-much, but did the pawrents consider that? Not on your life. We were on our way to Roswell, Ga. to spend Christmas with my no-fur Sis 'n' her baby's 1st Christmas. That was fine, but have you ever had to get out at midnight to do your "business" in 8 degree temp. 'n' well below zero wind chill? You can't even do good sniffing under those conditions. Mommy knew to get me right back in that car fast! She was freezing too 'n' couldn't find her face for a while. We eventually made to Atlanta area where I had to put up with my 2 cousins, Harvey (a Boston) 'n' Cosette, an "it's me, mine, 'n' never yours" cousin. She's a Frenchie, so I guess she can't help it. By the end of our visit, though we were getting along pretty well. #2. Next we headed down to Florida! I luv'd that 'cause I got up to 5 walks a day along the lakefront with no sign of alligators. It was 75 degrees warm too, much better than that 8 degree stuff up home! I even got to go to a local dog park 'n' play! Can't do that up home right now...too, too cold! Everything was going along swimmingly until the pawrents decided to take me on a visit to their friends in a nearby town. These friends have 2 Bostons, both male, 'n' really very nice. But, I wonder, will they ever take me somewhere where I can be the only, the top doggy? Hallelujah, my wish came true! On the way home we stopped 'n' visited friends overnight 'n' they have no pets, but LUV doggies. (That stop was the 3rd 'n' last "pillar", by the way.) #3. We traveled all day yesterday 'n' finally reached home-sweet-home last evening. Mommy 'n' Daddy, puh-leeze do not take me anywhere out of town for a long, long time.

(With Apologies to)It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas

It’s Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas
All around our house.
My nose is sniffing a wonderful smell
You know it can always tell
When Mommy’s cooking up something swell!
It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
All around our house.
My Mommy’s wrapping up gifts galore
Paper’s all over the floor, and
Daddy’s hiding stuff behind the door!
It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
Soon it will be time
And the happiest thing to see
Are the things Santa left for me
Underneath the tree.
Oh, a little soft toy and also one that squeaks
And a stocking packed up with some treats.
Things I can chase when I have lots of space
To run ‘til I fall on my face.
It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
Mommy turns on the tree,
And the hope of its bright-lit Star
Is the Promise we can see
In our Lord’s Nativity.

Dear Diary, I am one worn-out pooch! All day Mommy 'n' Daddy have been flitting around, in and out of the kitchen, to the store, back from the store....I'm exhausted just trying to keep up with them. They never STOPPED! Food was all over the place. Of course, not where I could reach it, and goodness knows I tried. Finally, when it looked like things had calmed a bit 'n' maybe they could pay a little attention to Me, the whole house erupted with humans pouring in. Well, you know what I mean. Anyway, they expected to be FED with OUR food 'n' what's more they brought all these children with them. Now, I really love to play with kids, I really do, but all that squealing 'n' running around 'n' loud grown-up human talking was more than a pup should have to bear. However, there is one happy note to this saga, and that is I'm a master at conning food, well, not from Mommy 'n' Daddy, but from all the others. I put my chin and a lap and do the poor-starving-little-me doe eyes 'n' it works like a charm. They're all gone now, the kitchen is quiet, Daddy's sprawled on a chair, Mommy's....well, you know where she is, and I am ready to find a soft, warm blankie, curl up 'n' .......zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
