First I need to say, once again ,thanks for all your prayers & thoughtful caring words, your special support & great advice! Mom got our call today while she was at work, just like the doc said, (he such a good boy) BOL!

The Dr. said, everything came back normal except my levels of protein, they were elevated higher than he wanted to see. We're not sure what that means, but the Dr. did say usually that means a thyroid problem. This doesn't make sense since my thyroid test also was normal. HMMM! Mom & dad will continue to give me my steroid meds & doxyiciline. The dr. did say to continue to give me my boiled chicken & rice so, my tummy don't get irritated from all the meds. Mom still thinks this " MASTICORY MUSCLE MYOSITIS" still makes the most sense. Mom still is worried though because, cancer hasn't been ruled out yet.

OUR NEXT STEPS: Dr. wants us to call him in two weeks, which takes us to Oct. 26th. We will see how I'm responding to this steroid treatment. If I do well, I have to be weaned off the steroids, than see how I do off of them. The Dr. mentioned, the possibilities of the MRI again if need be and/or a muscle biopsy. We will do the best we can with 2 weeks at a time for now.

Mom is really trying to be understanding & patient she doesn't want to borrow trouble..but is having issues with the unknowing... and possible expenses that we may have. Anywho..... thanks for all the pawsome gifts you great dawgs & family members have sent me they make my day! BIG PAW HUGS.....and of course a big sloppy drooling MWAH! Puppy love, Chip

P.S mom is working on putting a new picture of me on my page, so you can see how small I got. I have my paws crossed to...much luv, bark at ya later!

Well, let me see where should I begin? Ok the beginning, dad actually noticed it first about 3 weeks ago. Dad said, I had glassy eyes, a warm nose. Imagine that plus I'm not eating! Something is definitely wrong. Mom said, ewwwwwww! What is that horrible thick white foamy stuff coming out of my mouth..this is gross! (Tell me about it, I have to try to keep this stuff in my mouth)! One problem.. I can't work my tongue right.

Mom decided we need to go for a visit to the vet, so we did last Thurs. Oct. 1st. We had a new Dr. and she thought it was some type of bacterial infection. She gave me a trial sample of a pain killers starting with a "R" and a antibiotic called, Clavamox. She told mom to bring me back in 7 days to see how I would respond to the meds. Needless to say, I wasn't feeling a whole lot better. Now, we have a new problem where my right eye is dilated & sunken into my eye socket! (Sound pretty bad huh?) I'm still cute though! :)

Now it is Thurs.Oct. 8th, the Dr. is happy that I don't have as much Saliva coming out of my mouth but, not happy, I lost more weight and the problem, I'm having with my eye. Mom is not satisfied with the second visit, so she ask to see my Dr. who knows me since I'm 6 weeks old. Mom wants answers and she feels time is important. (YOU GO MOM!) We make another appointment for Sat. afternoon. Which is today 10/10/09. My Dr. takes one look at me & seems to be a bit worried. He is asking what happened to my big head? He ask mom a bunch of questions, and they are real important questions.. I can see mom really thinking & trying to remember stuff. (You know it's not easy I'm just 3 yrs. old & Istill like getting into trouble .) My mom always checks on me and really does her best to keep me safe. Anyway... my Dr. wanted to draw blood to out rule a few things. He gave me new medicine Prednisone & Doxycyline. He mentioned something that could be hereditary called, "Masticatory Muscle Mysositis" (MMM) it appears to be a breed problem in many large breed dogs. (I'm not so large now my friends...) I lost over 8 lbs. so far. I'm a little fragile 76 lbs. now...Woof that hurts my intimidating image now. Hopefully, my new meds will help. The Doc wants to try and rule out cancer.. YIKES! He said, don't be surprised if I get my appetite back. Mom & dad can't wait, neither can I YIPEE!!! Mom just hopes we find out for sure real soon..she can't tug on my jaws anymore.. well for now anyway.. it's killing her! She normally does it every day when she come home from work. (I guess, it's like when grandparents come around & pinch their babies cheeks..OUCH! ) As I end this entry in my diary, the doc said, he would call mom on Mon. to see how I do this weekend.. until I bark at ya's on one of our groups or woof in between key strokes here...please continue to pray for me. I really don't want to have to go through MRI's & CT. Scans.. biopsys, etc. Much love hugs & kisses! ***MUAH**** The Chipster

My first Emergency Room Visit...

My mom received a phone call from my big brother yesterday, as she was leaving work. He said to mom, " I think we need to take Chip to the vet." "Something is not right with him." He won't come in the house and he is crying!" So, mom told my human brother to put the speaker on the phone. Maybe, I would respond to moms voice. So, I did and as I got up from outside, My big brother (Mike) noticed I had some type of string or twine of some sort hanging out from my hiney. (Pretty Gross huh?) So, my big brother Mike and little brother RJ didn't know what to do. My brother Mike is 19 and my other brother RJ is only 9.

So, my big brother tried to pull the string out and I yelped! Ouch! It hurt so bad! Than my little brother RJ went to get a scissor and cut the string. Well, as soon as mom got home I was so happy! She said, I looked fine. A few minutes went by and she noticed me trying to get this foreign uncomfortable whatever, out of my butt! So Mike called the hospital and they said, they would take us in between appointments. Make a long story short.....After waiting for about 3 hours the Dr. saw me. He put a rubber glove on and went up my rectum. OUCH.*@!#( now i know how you humans feel when your getting a colonoscopy.) It turned out , or should I say he pulled out, some type of fabric, and a stone or gravel or something ,I thought was fun to play with at the time. Now I won't leave mom alone. She is taking so good care of me. I'm on an atibiotic, and I have to take pepcid 4 times a day. Plus, mom has to feed me boiled chicken and rice or boiled ground beef & rice. I have to have 4 small meals a day only a cup at each meal. The Dr. wanted me to have less but ......come on I'm a big growing boy!
Mom just hopes I will eat my regular dog food when it's time to go back, to my regular schedule. Mom said, thank God I'm going to be alright. So, something I ate , that I should not of. It caused a bowel blockage. Today I'm doing so much better. I'm glad my big brother told mom to take me to the vet. Mom has invested in VPI insurance for since I'm going to be a big boy plus just piece of mind. She has had it for me since I was a itty bitty pup. So, we will see just how good it is and see what they will pay for this emergency visit. So any treats, or presents will be nice so, I can have them when I am allowed to have them again. High five paws at ya, your friend Chip.

Well, I was just outside in this smoldering 98 degree weather. All the guys were in the pool. My dad ,two human brothers, my human uncle and friend. All the guys were having super soaker gun fights. So, it looked like fun, they started to spray me, and woof..slober... it felt good! I started running around the pool. I really got excited...... and started to act up! So, mom thought I would get too hot and I had to go inside to eat dinner. "Aw man I was having fun to."

When I was done eating my dinner. I decided I wanted to have more fun. I saw my human brothers flip-flops, (I think they were pretty expensive too.) Mom called them reefs. I grabbed one and started tossing it around the kitchen. It landed in mom's glass of soda on top of the counter top Wooie... did she get mad! (BOL!) Pretty good shot huh? It was really funny though. When she yelled at me in one of her loudest yells...I knew she was serious! I think mom was shocked! I never listen, but I knew she meant business. Especially, when she started shouting down at me in my face, and pointing her finger. Sorry mom, I just wanted to play!

So, when mom gets back from vacation, I think she is going to look into some serious obiedence classes. Pant..pant drool.. drool! Love, Chip-a hoy xoxo

I'm in so much trouble...can you believe it? Look at me how can anyone get mad at me? (Yeah right.. mom don't play that!) Sniffle..sniffle sob.. sob.. Well here it goes.......... I'm almost 10 months old and mom busted me eating my poop! She is really mad and even dissappointed. She thought I was over that. I heard her yelling at me to stop but. I just couldn't.... I guess there is something in it I like.. Mom is like EEEEWWWWWW!!! She won't even kiss me now. Go figure, something I ate I guess.

Than I decided to go dig in the mud and started a hole under the fence. I really got yelled at then. Mom actually started chasing me as she was yelling! You should of saw her she was really funny! I kinda liked it...I knew it wasn't a game though as soon as she went back in the house and slammed the door to tell daddy. Kind of like when my brother gets in trouble. You know your in trouble when she tells daddy what is going on. (Woof don't get daddy upset.) His voice is really big and deep.... I know its not good but.... I think I respond to daddy's voice better than my mom's.

I just wanted to have fun! MMMM.... the smell of fresh soil I luv it! Wag.. wag... shake.. shake.. bark at ya later.. Chip

On Tues, 4/24/07 : Mom & dad took me to a different place than I usually go for my wellness visits. It was a place I've never been before. I found out later, I was getting something done for my own good. It was called Neutered. I was away from my family for a few hours.

I heard this man as I waking up from a funny sleep. He kept calling me by my name Chip. I was kind of scared as I didn't reconize the voice of this nice man. I do remember, mom telling me he won't hurt me. I still wasn't sure what was going on. Than I heard my mom & dad's voice, I started barking really loud, I was affraid mom & dad would forget about me . I just wanted them to no where I was. After a few minutes I was with my family. I was feeling better than I thought, so as the hours go on. I'm doing alright. I found out that nice man's voice I heard was a doctor and he helps canines and felines. Until next entry............HAVE A BARKERFUL DAY! Love, Chip
