My Letter to Santa Paws

Dear Santa Paws

Hi ya Santa. It’s me, SAMSON

I am very happy to write you this year because I have been an extremely good boy. Yep, I never once messed in the house, I don’t pull on the leash when Mommy walks me, I perform all my tricks on command (in hopes of a treat, but still…).

I don’t give Mommy a hard time when it comes to my baths and other grooming care done to me - and there’s a lot of it - from cleaning my eyes, cleaning my ears, brushing my teeth, trimming my nails, I could go on and on, but you get where I'm coming from.

I mean to be perfectly honest, I’m hard pressed to think of anything at all that could possibly put me on the naughty list.

Hmmmm……….

Nope can’t think of a thing. So with that said let me get to my wants and needs….

I want some bully sticks – they’re good for my teeth and help keep me entertained.

I want some yummy treats – Mommy insists I only eat the organic kind so anything from honest kitchen or sojos should be fine. hint-hint: I like the blueberry

And most of all, I want all my furiends to have a happy and safe Christmas


And what I NEED……….. Well it’s really what I DON’T NEED
I Don’t Need anymore new clothes or cute outfits. BOL!

Oh Santa Paws, I look forward to Christmas Morning every year. I mean, what other day of the year do I get to tear apart paper and help the humans mess up the living room floor. Christmas Day is the best!

I would like to thank Dogster for introducing me to a whole world of grrreat pals that I would have never else gotten to know.
I have learned from them, laughed with them, played with them, & even cried with them.

********************* A Special Message to all My Schnauzers Rule Pals *********************

SAMSON’s Memories: It was August of this year (2007) that I joined Schnauzers Rule. I knew right away from the warm greeting I received, that I had found a special place! I began laughing and playing with other Schnauzers and really learning a lot from them.

My life and theirs was about to change forever…………..

Most of the group’s activity was through their daily messages – so I decided to try and get the forum going by posting a few games. My new pup friends joined right in and now we got things going on all over the place. It’s a virtual playground here!

I celebrated my 3rd Woofday – October 30! It just so happens, the group was running a "Halloween" photo contest, which I entered. I was dressed up as a clown – with a ‘Red Nose’ and all. The group voted me as the WINNER and I got this beautiful Paw Pendant as my prize! (Maddie’s mom made it!) I gave my Pendant to Mommy and she wears it everyday! Thank you everyone!!!

Milly & Georgie were kind enough to let me join the Administration in November! My main responsibilities are: Official Greeter, Game Meister, Contest Contributor, and Editor of our Weekly Newsletter! Yep – I started the “Schnauzer Scoop” - our Weekly Newsletter to recap all the group activities for the week! It has been a huge success and my friends enjoy reading it on Sunday! Yippee!!!

My November celebration was cut short when I received the news that our beloved leader Milly, passed away with kidney failure on November 15th. Milly was loved by all and as the founder of this group, the news hit us all hard! The good news is she’s an "Angel" now looking out for us all – so she will never truly be gone. I love you Milly!

Now, it is the "Holiday Season" and some of us are participating in a Holiday card swap. This has been so pawsome, as I have been receiving cards everyday from my friends. I have them all displayed in my home – and love each and every one of them! Each card I receive is so very special! I want you all to know that 3 years ago, when Mommy 1st got me, she started a Scrapbbok of me, and there are pages in there for my bestest friends – so when Christmas is over and the cards come down – Mommy’s going to put all of my cards you sent me right there in my Scrapbook – so I can I have my friends with me always!!!

Yes, I’m so happy to have found this wonderful group where I have “true friends” that care for me. You all were here for me when that Hawk tried to scoop me up, when I got that stick lodged in the roof of my mouth, to give me agility pointers for the new Agility Kit I got on my Woofday, to celebrate my Woofday with me, to support me in my weight loss effort, to inform me on all kinds of things I should know about from health issues, grooming needs, best buys on products, and the list goes on and on …………………………
I have found my home and it’s right here on Schnauzers Rule! I Love You All!

Being here for me was “Heaven in 2007” – So, I know its gonna be “Great in 2008”!

"DEAR Santa Paws"

SAMSON wrote this Letter to Santa Paws for Xmas 2007 & decided he wanted it to be included in his diary:

Dear Santa Paws,

I have been a VERY good boy this year! I try my bestest to pawlease Mommy in every single way.♥
It was 3 years ago, December 20, when Mommy brought me home So Christmas is a very special time for us!!

I will try and summarize my activities, from this past year, that should qualify me for being a “good boy”

On a day to day basis, I see 2 Shih Tzu furiends of mine (Levi & Ashley). They come over to play with me. I always share my toys with them and my treats. If one of them comes over to my water bowl, when I’m drinking, I move away so they can get some. The only thing that bothers me, is when Levi (he’s a good jumper) jumps into Mommy’s lap. I don’t like that one bit – it’s like “That’s my Mommy – your’s is over there” but other than that - I share everything else with them ~ toys, treats, even my most precious Bully Sticks!

I’m also kind to other animals - One morning when I was going out for my morning walk, I came across a baby Blue Jay and I didn’t kill it! I got pictures to prove it on my page! I haven’t gotten that close to a squirrel yet, so the jury’s still out on that one, but I’m nice to cats, too!

Dogster even thinks I’m pretty special as they selected me as ”Dog of the Day” back in August!

I also joined a group called Schnauzers Rule and I have made so many wonderful furiends there. So I must be a pretty nice pup Santa, or they wouldn’t like me.

I even let Mommy dress me up in a horrendous clown outfit this year for Halloween! With a Big Red Nose and all. That’s gotta count for something.

And when possible, I help Mommy do the dishes, by licking them clean, so she doesn't have to scrub!

I just can’t remember doing anything bad – well except that Hawk scare and the choking on the Stick. But those were more unfortunate incidences that put a scare in Mommy. Oh yeah, and the one time this summer when we took a road trip to Savannah - See, Mommy pulled off the highway to get something from the trunk of the car. Since it was Summertime, and I can’t take the heat, she left the keys in the car, to keep it running, so I had air–conditioning. Just as she closed the trunk and headed back to the driver’s seat, she heard the door locks click. My paws had depressed the lock button. Now I’m stuck inside the car and Mommy’s outside the car. After a good 10 minutes of playing ’Let Mommy In’, I stepped on the unlock button and we were on our way! BOL!

But other than that I’ve been really good. I never mess in the house, I try to learn all kinds of tricks, I even don’t put up to much of a fuss on bath day. I do kinda grit my teeth shut , once a month, when Mommy tires to give me my heartworm medicine, but I promise nothing else. Honest!

So if you think, after reading my letter, I’ve been a good boy too, maybe you could consider a few of my requests this year?

1. I want a Cozy Cave Dog Bed – Ever since I saw the video of my pals – Tot and Kiki – in theirs, I’ve been wanting one real bad!

2. I’m running out of Bully Sticks, and as I mentioned before, they’re my absolute favorite thing! A fresh supply of about, oh let’s say 12, should do nicely!

3. I have plenty of clothes, so don’t bother with that, AT ALL, pawlease!

4. Oh and if you could see to it that we get some snow this year in Georgia, that would be pawsome!

5. And if you can only fulfill one of my wishes this year – my wish would be for you to find a loving home, like the one I have, for all the pups out there that don’t have one. That would be the best gift of all!

I'm Gonna be in a Calendar!

Mommy just found out, that I'm gonna be in a Calendar! BOL!

Earlier in the year, she sent in a photo of me to MSRH (Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston) It is an all-volunteer, donation-sponsored, non-profit organization dedicated to the overwhelming task of saving the lives of abused, abandoned and unwanted Miniature Schnauzers, who have lost their homes, for one reason or another. Their goal is that any Miniature Schnauzer coming through their organization will never again have to face being on the streets, in a shelter, or any other dangerous situation, but will live a safe, loving and secure life in their new "forever" home.

They just sent us an email saying me - SAMSON was chosen to be in the Calendar, even though he was the only dog who wasn't adopted! It's pretty exciting! I hope I help them sell lots of calendars to help the needy Schnauzies out there! OMD! I got an Agility Kit!!!

A couple of weeks ago, I had my 3rd Woofday! Mommy's sister, who lives outta town, said she was going to be bringing me a BIG present on her next visit.

Well, she came this weekend and boy or boy was it a big present. My very own Agility Kit.

I tried it out already and it's fun. I posted a video if you wanna see.

I hope I can get good at it, like some of you out there. But in the meantime, I'm just gonna enjoy!

Those weave poles are tough to get right away, but I love the chute!

Thanks so much to my Aunt Lanie. She bought me for Mommy 3 years ago and now this. She likes to spoil me too.

I got it goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!!!!!

Be careful of sticks. Yeah, Sticks!

I just got back from the Vet. I was outside playing and began chewing on a stick. After a few minutes I began making choking motions and Mommy went into hysterics. She put her fingers down my throat and was begging me to spit it out. She felt something, but couldn't grab a hold of it. I went into a spasm and she called the Vet!

She took me there and he couldn't find anything. He said she must have pushed it down. Mommy told him I still wasn't acting right and to check again. He said he fed me and gave me some water - but Mommy insisted.

So he checked again and sure enough, between my back 2 molars there was a stick lodged up into my gums. He took me to the back and came back with a stick piece that measures almost 2 inches!!!

I have to be on antibiotics for the next 5 days.

No more sticks for me, Mommy says.

Pawlease be careful and watch your babies - they don't know what's good or bad for them. That's our job.

Another useful tip, if you haven't done so already, store your Vet's phone number in your cell phone. Thank goodness Mommy didn't have to waste time looking up the number.

I'm Okay and although shaken, I think Mommy will be fine.
