Likes: To explore, run, play, be petted, and escape from crates and fenced yards!
Pet-Peeves: When her brother, Kierke, wants her bone.
Favorite Toy: Rawhide bone. Frisbee, although she really hasn't quite figured it out. Kierke's ears.
Favorite Food: Fromm's Duck & Sweet Potato dried food and beef canned food. Yummy chummies, CHEESE.
Favorite Walk: Anyplace to explore, especially where are nooks and crannies to nose into.
Best Tricks: Jumping over her brother, balancing on her hind legs, sneaking around Kierke's rawhide bone and stealing it. Making Kierke runinto stuff when he chasing her.
Arrival Story: Kierke wanted a playmate, dad wanted another girl dog, mom wanted a cuddle muffin, and we all wanted to save a dog from the pound. Mom went on reconnaissance at the shelter and came home with the sweetest little girl pup ever!
Bio: She is shy, anxious, and yet very sweet. Her agility is imcomparable. She's more Pharaoh Hound than Husky with all the sweetness and loyalty of nature that that breed exemplifies. She is also very much a sight hound and shows natural hunting tendencies. She likes to stick close to us and without being trained to do so, waits for us to go in the door first! She likes to be petted and wants to sit close to her humans. She is naturally joyous and loves to frolick. She also likes to explore and should not be loose. She is innocent of the dangers of being out of the yard on her own and should ALWAYS be on a leash if she is not in the yard or house. She is a very wonderful companion, but she needs to be watched because she does have the husky curiosity and independent streak! And, we've recently discovered that she must be part kangaroo--she can stand on her hind legs for several seconds while her paws are neatly folded down in front of her!

Breed Mix: The vet agreed with mom that she is part husky and part Pharaoh Hound, which is why she is tall, has big ears, amber eyes, and the white markings.
Wow, I LOVE the presents! Thank you all my good friends. I've been doing ok, although I had a relapse in my anxiety problem. I'm better but you know, when mom leaves, I freak. How will I know she'll find her way back? But then, she remembers our treats and stuff. Anyway, having you guys out there to cheer me up is great. Right now we've got a lot of snow, although today is sunny. I guess we're going into spring. I can't wait to be outside all the time! Anyway, hope all of you have a great spring too. Love, Leda

Subject: Maybe this can be hung on your cage or at a local shelter :) Sent: Tue Nov 18
Message:
I rescued a human today.
Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering
apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew
I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she
wouldn't be afraid.
As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident
I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't
been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and
I didn't want her to think poorly of them.
This came as a pawmail from my friend Sunny Lee--I know what this means...
As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about
my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make
a difference in someone's life. She got down on her knees and made
little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head
up against the bars to comfort her.
Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for
companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to
assure her that all would be well.
Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I
instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I
would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do
everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her
eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many
more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to
be saved. At least I could save one.
WEll, we got BIG bones but NO Turkey. Everytime mom has someone over really delicious smells drift out of hte kitchen but the food always goes away before we get any! Somethings is starting to smell fishy! Of course, I do actually like fish, but you know what I mean!
Well summer is here and gone and with it the rain. Now we get to play and run in the snow, but it gets kinda cold. Still not super cold but it's been to about -15. We stay in the house mostly now. We have nice kennels with soft beds mom fixes for us and bones and treats and dinner. And we get petted and we bark at other dogs sometimes when get on the deck. K is always doing that--I'd rather be friends!
Anyway, I've grown and I'm all big and I don't tear things up anymore. I believe mom and dad aren't going away. They say they have taken me off the adoption list. I'm glad because except for K always wanting to have BOTH my bone AND his, I'm pretty happy. Thanks for my home. And mom says thanks for me. Thank you God and friends for everything! Happy Day to all--Love, Leda
