Arrival Story:
Vinnie came all the way from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina interrupted her dog days in the Big Easy.

When she finally met a little dog named Delilah Dre understood well that good things really do come a million times over to those who wait. Dre had started her pup search by emailing other rescue organizations. She'd visited countless shelters. And she'd spent so many nights browsing thousands of dogs on the various Bay Area websites, that it seemed her disappointment would know no end. No dog had ever spoken to her. Enter BAD RAP. One crisp, sunny Saturday afternoon, Dre walked into Tim & Donna's Pit Ed manners class and asked a cute little fawn with sweet, gentle eyes if she might be the one. Delilah snorted, wiggled, and whined her way into Dre's heart. Dre had heard the voice she'd been waiting for. As soon as BR gave the ay-okay, Dre took home her little Buddha in the fur coat and neither has looked back since. With a poetic sensibility and one of the sweetest temperaments bulldogs have ever known, Delilah was renamed Vinnie after the lively, lovely poet Edna St. Vincent Millay. It turned out that Vinnie was a Katrina rescue and that she'd seen more suffering in her little three-year lifetime than any dog ought to endure. Dre committed herself to make up for lost time by giving this little beauty all the happiness she can handle, including the company of two madcap cats (Pippin and Maude) and one totally smitten human, Elizabeth. Millay once wrote that "beauty is whatever gives joy." There's no question that Vinnie's already brought so much joy into this house that she's one beauty who deserves to get it all back a million times over. Many thanks to Emily and to Linda, who brought Delilah/Vinnie a thousand miles with your special brand of TLC. See a couple more pix of Vinnie on! She's listed on the page 'Happy Endings'.
