Favorite Toy: Oscar is fickle, his favourite toy changes all the time. At the moment, he loves Rabbit, a fuzzy stuffed rabbit with no face and Dino Cuz
Favorite Food: Cheese, cheese, cheese!
Favorite Walk: Anywhere!
Best Tricks: Oscar knows his family members by name. If you ask him "where's Sue/ Robin/ Hanna/ Jane/ Morgan/Charlie?" he will go and find that person. He can also count to 4. He also does a great stand for examination!
Arrival Story: I visited the farm where Oscar spent his first 6.5 months. While his 2 brothers ran around and showed off, Oscar came up to me, sat down and reached his paw out to me. He just sat there quietly "holding my hand" and I knew he was the right dog for me. I didn't choose him, he chose me!
Bio: Oscar's mum was a mini schnoodle and his dad was a mini poodle. Oscar lived on a farm in Gippsland until he was 6.5 months old. Then he came to live in the outer suburbs of Melbourne, joining Molly the Kerry Blue Terrier. Oscar was named after the Sesame Street character, Oscar the Grouch. He was not grouchy, but he was a bit of a monster! He soon earned himself the middle name "Wild", not after the writer Oscar Wilde, but because he was a wild little dog and he loved to harass Molly. She was very patient with Oscar Wild and they became best friends.
Oscar's world changed on 15 December 2005 when Molly had a seizure. Molly was rushed to the vet and Oscar was not used to being left home alone, so he went along for the sad trip. Sadly, Molly had a brain tumour and the vets couldn't save her. Oscar watched the family bring Molly home and say their good-byes before burying her in a special spot in the backyard. Oscar wouldn't go near Molly to say good-bye. He was not happy. Suddenly, he was an only dog and he didn't like that. He has always been an anxious man and he felt safe when Molly was around. She was a wise old dog with a loud bark and she kept him and her family safe. Suddenly, the weight of the world was on Oscar's shoulders as he felt he had to be the guard dog. He rose to the challenge and did a good job of looking after his sad family.
Oscar's world changed again in February 2006 when Morgan joined his family. Morgan is a Welsh Terrier. Oscar had never met anyone like Morgan before - she was very small and very bossy! Oscar fell in love with the new baby and was pleased to have another dog in the house. Oscar and Morgan have become best friends. Morgan calls Oscar her big mate but she gets very upset and jealous if Oscar gets more hugs than her. Oscar doesn't mind - he knows there are enough hugs to go around.
Oscar likes going to obedience training. He passed beginners in 1 month and class 1 in 2 months. Class 2 was more tricky! Oscar tried hard to pass class 2. He even perfected his "stand for examination" which was a big challenge for a dog that is anxious and afraid of strangers. But month after month he was told "try again next time". He took some time out to repeat beginners and class 1 with Sue. Then he returned to class 2 to give it another bash. Finally, after 13 attempts and much encouragement from Mark the instructor, Oscar passed class 2! He got very embarrassed when Hanna reacted like he'd won Miss Universe and burst into tears! But he understood that she was just pleased that his hard work had been rewarded. And he got a special reward - an egg McMuffin & hash brown to himself! Oscar then moved on to class 3 and excelled at off-leash work. The little superstar passed class 3 after 5 months! He is such a good boy, so now he attends obedience just for fun.
Oscar got a new cousin, Charlie, in November 2007. Charlie is a labradoodle. Oscar enjoys Charlie's company but does not enjoy having his tail chewed by him!
Oscar loves to snuggle. He is a happy, affectionate boy who doesn't understand that at 17kg, he is too big to be a lap dog!

I've Been On Dogster Since:
I went on holidays with my mum. We had a nice time! We went walking, to the beach, she took me out for brunch and lots of sitting around wathcing movies. It was good fun. One day, she let me go off leash at the beach cos I'm pretty good at staying close by. But I spotted a seagull and thought I'd take a closer look and took off at high speed. Hanna called me to come back but by the time I came to my senses, the seagull had gone and I was no longer on the sand, but in the middle of a stinky lake! I had to have a bath cos I smelt so bad.
Aside from that, I have just been pottering around, doing very little, just hanging with my family.
My mum and aunty Jane have started doing C25K running again now the warm weather is returning, so I've been doing that with them. I am a lazy couch potato, but once I get running, it's good fun.
The big news in my house is that I'm getting a cousin! Jane is getting a fur-baby of her own! He is going to be called Charlie and he's arriving on 30 November. He is part poodle too, so he will be my "oodle" cousin! It will be exciting to have another dog in the house but it will also be hard work - hopefully he and Morgan will be buddies and they can play all day and let me snooze in peace!
Hanna packed my bag last night (I have an Oscar the Grouch bag!) and we are leaving tomorrow. We will drive for 7 hours to get there. Hopefully Hanna will sing while we are driving. Most people would not enjoy her singing, it's not very good, but I like it when she sings in the car.
When we get there, we are going to be lazy couch potatoes and watch movies, read books, drink coffee (maybe a dog-a-cino for me?). She also said we would go for a walk on the boardwalk. That will be good - lots of smells for me to enjoy on that walk!
I'm looking forward to my holiday - Hanna and I have never holidayed together. I have been there with Sue, Robin, Jane, Molly and Morgan but never Hanna. She usually takes her holidays in far away places but this time she said "I just want a week at the beach with my pooch". It will be nice.
My aunty Jane gave me a rawhide bone. It was tasty but too much to eat at once, so I thought I'd bury it and enjoy it later.
I'm not allowed in the backyard by myself so I had to bury it inside. I thought the yellow couch was a good spot, so I squished the bone down behind the cushions. But in doing so, I accidently removed the cushion cover. Jane went to put the cover back on and discovered the bone. So I had to find another hiding spot.
I thought I'd done a good job until Hanna went into the study and noticed that some papers were on the floor and the cushion on the armchair was crooked. She went to fix the cushion and discovered the bone was hidden there. I glared at her and took the bone. I racked my brain for another hiding spot.
I thought my bed upstairs was a good choice. It has a cushion and a blanket on top. I put the bone on the cushion and arranged the blanket over the top. It took some doing and then I fell off the bed and dislodged the blanket and had to start again. After a lot of work, I decided it was safe to leave the bone, no one would find it there.
Little did I know that Hanna was planning on dismantling the bed so she could pack it up and take it to Sue and Robin's house. She headed upstairs and I followed her, just to keep an eye on things. She was headed towards my bed! I was so cross that she'd found the bone, I thought I had buried it so well! I hadn't realised that she'd been watching me earlier when I was burying it! She and Jane tricked me - I thought they were looking out the window but they'd been watching me!
After all that hiding, I decided the only safe place for the bone was my tummy so I ate the whole thing.
But I might need to think of some new hiding spots so I'm prepared next time I have a treat.
