Arrival Story:
My wife (at the time girlfriend) and I were visiting her family in Knoxville, TN and made the mistake of stopping by a pet store in the mall. We took one look at this little brown pile of trouble and decided to play with him in the play room. After 20 minutes of non-stop finger biting, shoelace pulling, and bouncing around, something amazing happened. Her eyes and his eyes met, and I became a distant 2nd in our relationship! After leaving the pet store in tears, we convinced ourselves we could get him, even though we lived withour parents, respectively, and he would stay with me and my parents...we already had 2 dachshunds. After a big, long distance phone fight with my parents which was left at "don't you dare get that dog"...we soon ended our vacation and returned home about 2:30 in the morning. Of course, dad was very upset, so much that he did not get out of bed to greet us. However, not a day later you could find my dad in his easy chair with a little bundle of fur, sleeping soundly tucked under his arm...

Bio:
We returned home from visiting family in Orlando. Xander had not been eating, and had bloody diarrhea for 24 hours. He was weak but alert. About 9:30p I went to take him outside and he had become very weak and drowsy. We took him to the emergency vet where they gave him fluids and an antibiotic for elevated bacteria levels. His body temperature had dropped to 90 degrees. We brought him home and put him under blankets and a heating pad to bring his body temp back up. About midnight he began seizing and stopped breathing. I performed cpr for about 10-15 minutes as we rushed back to the emergency vet. He was not able to be ressusitated. We said goodbye to our first baby, Xander, on November 15, 2005 at 12:40am. We never considered our dogs, dogs, rather our children. I know that he's running around God's backyard right now, chasing lizards and squeaking his binky. We love you.
