My name is Luna and I'm a rescue, as my bro Toby and my sisters Gaia, Sissi, Rosy and Brandy are. Here you are my story.
It was February the 20th 2007, what a cold evening it was! I was a puppy, a tiny puppy of about 45 days, and someone drop me at Termini, the main train station of Rome. I don't know why they abandoned me, but what I know is they didn't want me.
I started to walk, totally unaware of the dangerous place I was in. Like any puppy in this world I was sniffing everything, and sudendly I found a very very interesting foot to sniff. The foot belonged to a young lady, who looked at me very surprised. What's a puppy doing all alone in a train station? she asked to herself. She took me in her arms and tried to find out if someone was looking for me, no, nobody wasn't. She had a train to take for visiting a friend in Latina, but she never would leave a dog in trouble, so she spoke to the train controller, and he agreed to let me travel with her (what a nice man he was, thank you!). While in the train the young lady made a call to her mother and told her she had found a puppy. Yes, it's little, yes, she seems ok, yes, it has still blue eyes, ok, I'll bring her to you first thing tomorrow morning.
I spent the night with the young lady at her friend's house, and in the morning we took another train back to Rome. There was a lady waiting for us. The lady took my cage (it was a cat cage borrowed from the young lady's friend) and called her husband: dear, it's raining and I have a canine urgence, will you take us to the vets, please? After a while I found myself into a car, it was so warm there, then the car stopped and the lady took me into a strange smelly room, where the man called "vet" ran a full control on me. Yes, I was ok, yes, I was full of worms (my belly was huge), yes, I was probably a lab.
The lady and the car driver took me to another place called "dogs boutique", where they bought a lot of things for me: food, bowls, toys, and a warm dog bed, and after a while we arrived to a place called "home". Who are you?, asked me a huge white dog called Toby. Don't know, I said, I'm just a puppy. Listen, said Toby, I have heard your name is going to be Luna, and it seems to me you're my new sister. Do I have a giant brother like you? I asked. Yes, replied Toby, but I'm not your only one brother, there is another in the other room, soon you'll meet him, he's kind of serious and never plays, but consider he's a senior...I couldn't believe my ears!!! A warm loving home, a loving human and canine family, tons of toys and two brothers to chew on!!!
I spent the next days in the arms of the whole family, and while on the floor playing and being "groomed" by my bro Toby (since then my family calls him "mom Toby", but don't tell him, please, but he's so nice to puppies and I adore him).
After a week I hadn't still meet my other canine brother and I was wondering why; then one night my mom (the human one I mean) told me I was going to be introduced to the chief dog Portos, mom asked me to behave, I agreed but just to make mom happy. She took me to her bedroom and there he was, lying on the bed with his wonderful tail hanging out from it. He didn't move, didn't bark, just looked at me and said "oh my God, a puppy! Listen, little pest, I'm a serious big senior GSD, you're not allowed to chew on my tail, my ears, my paws, in one bark, you're not allowed to chew on me at all!!!" I had promissed mom to behave, but just couldn't, that furry tail was too much inviting, so first thing I did was to try to catch the hanging tail...Big mistake, a huge growl came out from Portos mouth: "I'm the chief dog here, you puppy, don't you dare, ever!!!" But his look was good and tender, so I understood he never would hurt me, all he wanted from me was respect, I wasn't afraid of him but learnt what he liked and what not.
Portos became my most protective brother and we loved each other very very much. I was there when he went to the Bridge, and mom always thanks me for giving him a windblow of puppyhood during his last days on Earth, that serious and perfect GSD, while never let me chew on him, played with me, shared his bones with me, and even growled to her GSD girlfriend because of me. He was the top dog, I knew it and I respected it. I looked for many many days for him when he went to Heaven, and for many many days Toby and me didn't play as we used to do. God bless your memory, dear bro Portos!
Now I live where he was born, very far away from the place I was born, but this is my home, and wherever my family is will be my home, because a forever home is not a building, it's a loving family you can trust.
God bless and protect all homeless dogs, paws crossed for all abandoned pups!

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!?
