Arrival Story: I volunteer at the local animal shelter about once a week. I saw Lord there about a year and a half ago. He was skin and bones and had a choke chain all imbedded in the fur around his neck. I took him out because I was afraid he would get back into the wrong hands, as he had so obviously been in before. I already had three dogs, and wasn't looking for another one, much less was able to afford one--especially of his size. Thus, he was my "foster dog" for about a year and a half before I finally admitted that I had a fourth dog.

Bio: Dear Lord had a very bad beginning, but is now living the life of Riley with many happy returns of the day. He came to me extremely malnourished and severly abused. He was a troll under the bridge of sorts, as the first six months with me was spent under my deck. He would barely come out except to eat and go to the bathroom. If myself, or anyone else, approached him, he would cower and often pee on himself. I shudder to think what he must have had to endure in order to be this way. He eventually turned around, though, and when he did, I put him up for adoption. He went to several different homes, but none of them turned out to be the right one and he was returned to me each time. Lord is now a completely different dog. He runs up to complete strangers with reckless abandon. He has such a noble and dignified presence to him and he is very loving. He has accepted his role as largest dog in the household at the bottom of the totem pole with style and a sense of humor to boot. I love just looking at him, and I now simply cannot imagine my life without him.
