Dear Care-Bear,

I can't believe it's been a year now since you've been gone. I miss the reluctant, impatient way you'd kiss me when you wanted a treat. You'd sit there glaring through me like you were above the humiliation, and then stick your tongue out so quick, like "there, are you happy now." You had the best sense of humor and always had a fantastic smile on your face. I miss the way you interacted with the world - your self-esteem is something I still aspire to. I miss watching you guide and manipulate your brother. I miss your intelligence, your sweetness, your selfishness even. I miss lying on the floor spooning with you - my happy place. I miss seeing you and Tanner waiting for me at the front window every night when I came home. I miss our jaunts to PetsMart. I miss watching you force people to admire you. I miss your 95 pound bed-hog body snuggling up with me every night. I miss your head on my ankle - for the first 3 months after you passed I had to sleep with a pillow over my feet. I miss your gentle sweet soul - there will never be anyone, dog, human, or otherwise that will replace you in my heart.
