Puppy cookies, food... [head tilt]
If you're mad at her. She does NOT like it when you're mad at her. She gets really sad.
Anything she can pull the stuffing out of. She doesn't eat it, she just likes to tear all the fuzz out. She likes to tear apart tennis balls too, so I got her a solid tennis ball stick. She was confused by it at first 'cause she couldn't tear it apart.
Eukanuba for active doggies.
I think her favorite exercise now is playing 'psycho dog' where she runs around the house so fast it sounds like she's tearing the carpet.
Amanda's best trick, although not a nice one, is: "punch him in the balls". I think you can guess for yourself what that means.
Ok, this is a long story, so go get a cup of coffee and sit down.
We had a JRT put to sleep in April, Eddie was 3.5 years old. He was a rescue, we got him when he was 10 months. We had him put down because he was MEAN. Even worse than being mean, he was unpredictable about when he was going to be mean. He bit Joe a few times pretty badly, but never bit me. Until that Thursday. He got me REAL bad. That was the last time he ever bit. We had Edward cremated with his blankie, his favorite toys(tiger and kitty-kitty), and two puppy cookies.
Fast forward to a few weeks later. My mom and I were spending the day together. On the way back to her house, we stopped at a pet store that she had heard a LOT of good things about. (she works at a vet) I had been to that store before, but my mom hadn't. I wasn't looking for a dog yet, since I was still very upset about my pup Eddie. That's where I saw my Amanda Louise. I didn't think I would EVER get a dog from a pet store, I just didn't think they were taken care of the way they should be. But when I saw this little girl in there with her brother and sister... She looked different than them. When I saw that she was a border collie/australian cattle dog mix... Well that was it. If I could have picked two breeds to mix, those two would be it. She had to come home with me.
To end this story, Mandi came home with Joe and me about a week later! I'm SO glad my mom wanted to stop at that store!
Mandi loves her "aunties". Those are my mom's dogs Tess and Doris. Tess is a border collie, and Doris is (according to the vet) "a big black dog". I love watching the three of them play together. Mandi learns a lot from the big dogs. She plays with Tess most of the time, and Doris sits back and watches. We call her the enforcer. If one of the girls gets a little too rough, Doris will let them know it's time to calm down.
I would love to chat with some other cattle dog and border collie owners. send me a message if you read this so we can maybe chat sometime!
