A little insight from the dog's eye....

I kept hearing mom throw the words "basic obedience" around over the last several weeks. And then the instructor called this afternoon to confirm. So, I guess it's true. I will be starting basic obedience class in 2 weeks. Joy. I'm wondering just what part of my personality caused her to enroll me. Was it my obsessive compulsive jumping up on anyone and everything that walks through the door? Was it my lack of "staying" power for any time longer than 3 seconds? Or is it simply because I choose to use my selective hearing about 90% of the day? Oh...maybe, just maybe, it has something to do with the fact that I always have to "walk" her rather than the other way around. After all, I do sit (50% of the time, when asked) and I do "stay put" until my meals are down and ready for me. And I give paw. (Both of them to be exact!) And I roll over into my "submissive" state SO many times each day that I have lost count. I fail to see her reasoning behind this. But, since I am such a good girl and I am overly friendly, I will attend the 6 week course and I will mix & mingle with the rest of the subjected canines in training. This is where I usually let out my big girl "sigh." This sigh clearly demonstrates that while I am not exactly thrilled with your decision I will go along with it if it makes you happy. All I have to say is there had better be LOTS of treats in this for me. Treats of all shapes, sizes, and textures. And, I want a new leash; one that doesn't pull at my neck while I try and take you for a walk. Actually, what I would really like is a new harness; one that is properly fitted to my frame. I am a German Shepherd - not a small toy breed. So, let's have someone with a little more knowledge "rig" me up. The last harness you attempted to place on me kept slipping over my shoulders. Your a female...you know how annoying it is for your bra straps to not stay put. I'm ok with it NOT being all about a fashion statement - we spend a lot of time walking you and me...so let's go for comfort. We can iron out the rest of the pertinent details later. But for now, I am tired. I spent the evening chasing my best fur-friend around in the back yard. Lots of fresh air, snow, and exercise are the complete fixings for a well worked out pup. So...let me sleep on this, and I will get back to you in the morning......
