The new medication has arrived!

Wonderful news! The new medication has arrived and much faster than we had expected. She has already had her first dose and now we just have to hope it not only helps her lung function but also will result in helping to prevent the syncope episodes she has been experiencing. Overall she has been doing well so if this medication will work as we are hoping it will, she can continue to have a great quality of life. She is a really strong girl and we are doing what we can on our part to keep her that way.

Thank you for the prayers and thank you God for watching over our little girl.

Pulmonary Hypertension

After a neurology consult and several more cardiology tests they found out she also has pulmonary hypertension. They sent in a prescription for a vasodilator that will hopefully help reduce or eliminate the syncope episodes. We just have to wait a few days for it to arrive.

I'm happy we seemed to have found the answer and now I just pray the medication will help the symptoms. Poor Mia seems to only receive bad news but luckily we have a way to try and treat it.

Thank you all for the love and prayers.

PS - on a bright side, her lungs were clearer than they have been since this all started. You always have to look on a bright side

Cardiology appt.

There hasn't been any improvement with the episodes so they worked Mia in this afternoon at 11:30. We will post more information once we come home.

The only positive thing is the fact she is recovering pretty quickly but in total she has now had 10 syncope episodes in the past 5 days. This morning at 4 AM she had a really bad one. I am not sure what they will be able to do but I pray they come up with some plan that can prevent these from happening so frequently. I can't think of anything at all that has changed that would have started this all.

Thanks so much for all the love and support once again.

Concerning weekend

We are once again on high alert. Mia started having syncope episodes again and they are clustered. She has had 5 in the past 48 hours. She is recovering after each but I was really hoping to either take her in to see the cardiologist today or at least see if they can suggest a medication change. Unfortunately they are closed for MLK Day. I just pray they call early tomorrow so we can try to get this under control. I lose a little piece of my heart with every episode she has. They are terribly scary and disturbing. She is amazingly strong to even recover from them.

I love you Mia, please stay strong while we try and help you get through this.

I finally got some wonderful news! My blood work results came in and it shows a slight DECREASE in my kidney levels since starting the new modified protein kidney diet. I think I deserved some good news for a change :)

Mom is super happy and I have been feeling pretty good lately. Yay! I hope it lasts a long time

Muah! Muah!

Cardiology recheck today

We to the U for a recheck today and saw my FAVORITE vet tech Kristen! She loves me, too. BOL! I love her except when she takes my blood :(

We're waiting on the results and pawraying that the kidney levels are stable. Otherwise, if you are wondering why I haven't posted much it is because everything is quiet right now. I've been doing pretty well and even eating fairly good. Mom is super happy. There has been a little concern here and there but nothing major and I am holding my own. Chester is also doing OK. He's back on antibiotics for the lesions but other than that he is still the same old Chester.

I hope all my pals are doing well and Thanks for all the pawrayers that helped me get to a stable point where I can enjoy each day. I love you all

Mia's Wonderland

Mia barks, are you listening?
Upon her nose, whiskers bristling.
A beautiful sight
We’re happy tonight
Spending time in Mia’s wonderland

Gone away is the sorrow
Here we pray for tomorrow
We sing her a song
As we go along,
Spending time in Mia’s wonderland

In the kitchen we can bake some biscuits
Then the boys will ask can they have some?
We’ll say: Are you sure?
and they’ll say: yes ma’am,
We have room for food
When its around.

Later on, we’ll conspire
To steal treats down by the fire
To face unafraid
The plan the vet’s made
Spending time in Mia’s wonderland

In the morning we can go to the vet
And pretend that there is nothing wrong
We’ll have lots of fun and get some more pets
Until the nurse comes in for a blood drawn

When Mia plays, ain’t it thrilling
And when she asks, we’re a grillin'
Some steaks made her way, we love every day
Spending time in Mia’s wonderland

Spending time in Mia’s wonderland
Spending time in Mia’s wonderland!

I just realized I am closing in on 10,000 views!

That really makes me feel so warm and fuzzy (and that is saying a lot because it is very cold outside, BOL)

I want to thank everyone for checking out my page and mostly for all the prayers recently.

Still no episodes since Thursday. Knock on wood, it has been over 3 days now.

No new episodes!

I haven't had an episode for over 48 hours! This is pawsome news and sure makes mom feel good. We don't know if it is due to the fact I have been on the Hydrochlorothiazide for the few extra days or because of all the love and prayers from family and furiends. Yesterday was actually a super duper day! I even ate well and it was the new dog food! Ok, I did get a few treats off the no no list but I love it. Today I don't seem to have that great appetite but I am still acting fine. Ask me how I feel after the Bears play, BOL!!!

Thank you pals and thanks for the diary pick honor.

PS - My Cardiologist was on the news for helping save a homeless Chihuahua. Check it out Seymore's plight

New pupdate

Mia had yet another syncope episode totaling 3 this week. Each has been after coming in from outside so we considered buying an indoor potty but don't know if she would take to it with her age considering she has always gone outdoors. Plus the vet doesn't think the cold should cause the problem and it is more likely her overexerting herself outside.

Her cardiologist feels if the episodes don't improve with the extra diuretic we started her on Tuesday, it may be something we have to deal with. Unfortunately it looks like we have to evaluate her quality of life if they continue. Right now she is still doing OK even with them. Further increasing the diuretic more than it already has been will likely do more harm on the kidneys than good for the heart. We just have to hope and pray for the best. She starts her new more kidney friendly diet this evening.
