Surgery on Thursday

Well, I heard mom on the phone with the dogtors the other day talking about a surgery, my surgery! I am having a dental (dad says my breath is smelly, hrumphf) and I'm also having a small tumor removed. The tumor was checked last visit and doesn't appear to be anything more than a lipoma so we shouldn't have anything to worry about as far as cancer is concerned. All in all it should be a fairly easy procedure, but of course mom worries anyway. Any time you are under anesthesia, there are risks of complications she says. Wish me luck

BTW - I hope it is warmer on Thursday, today is so chilly mom had to turn the heat back on in the house. We are at least getting rain! I hate it, but we needed it. Cold and rainy, what a combination.

Surgery tomorrow

Eeek! It is already here, my dental and tumor removal surgery is tomorrow. I have to get up super early, too. I don't do mornings and dread it terribly. Mom is still worried about the anesthesia, but I am certain all will be well. I do promise to raise a ruckus though! I will definitely let everyone know that I was not happy with the entire ordeal. I used to be so quiet, but now I let the world know when I am unhappy.

On the bright side, mom is thawing ground turkey to make a turkey and rice mixture for me to eat for a couple days after the surgery. It will be easier to eat than my normal dry dog food diet.

I hope you will all say two tiny little prayers for me. One that during the dental, I don't lose any more teeth (lost a lot just after my adoption because my previous owners didn't take the best care of me) and two that when they remove the two tumors, they don't see any further problems and that will be the end of them.

I'll have mom write an update when she hears from the vet tomorrow afternoon. I'll be a bit out of it that day. Wish me well

First pupdate

Mia is currently in surgery and they ran into their first complication. Mia has a fractured molar that will need to be removed and she also has two loose teeth that will most likely also be taken out. The vet thinks she can still eat dry food and this is just a setback, but for a few weeks she will have to eat softer foods. They haven't even begun the removal of the tumors yet so we will still have to wait and see how those go, but she is handling the anesthesia fine so hopefully all will be fine.

It's 2:00 and the vet called back. Dental is done and all three of those teeth were removed. Two were molars and have stitches. Poor gal only has 16 teeth left :(

Tumors were also removed and those went well. There were two small lesions that were also lasered off. I am leaving soon to pick her up but I'll have to stay with her for awhile before we can leave the vet's office. The late start to her surgery means she'll have to stay a bit longer. I want to go and stay with her though. She'll be on antibiotics for a few more days and extra pain meds, but she is done and coming home soon.

She is awake and doing OK, that is what is most important.

Home at last!

There is no place like home! I'm so happy to be back home with my family and even better since mom and dad made my brothers leave the room! BOL! They wouldn't stop sniffing me and it was annoying.

My auntie called me a hillbilly dog today, she was teasing but I didn't like it. Having very few teeth is better than having painful and rotting teeth (mean auntie!). I have to admit, I'm in a considerable amount of pain and mom feels terrible because I keep whimpering, but my mouth is very sore and my back hurts a little. I have some pain medication to take a little later and hopefully that will help. I was also showing signs of being hungry so mom warmed up a little bit of rice with ground turkey for me. I didn't even hesitate to eat it so that is a great sign. Anyway, once I get past these first few days, I expect to feel much better! I went outside to potty and didn't have any troubles. I'm moving around pretty well and just a bit groggy. I'm just so happy to be home and recovering with my family.

Oh and one last thing....no comb over. They shaved a pretty big section of hair. Some of it is covered by other hair so it isn't all bad. I get my stitches out in two weeks and then I can work on getting my hair growing back again. The stitches in my mouth will dissolve on their own (good thing too because I don't want them digging in my mouth again.

Feeling Great!

I feel so much better since my surgery and dental. My mouth no longer hurts and I am back on solid food and even my hair is growing back. I am going to see the doctor on Tuesday and I'll get my stitches out. All in all, I can't complain.

Thank you all so very much for the prayers and gifts, they meant so much. I am now set until next year! Yay!

Hope all is well with all my furiends. It is actually HOT out here now. The weather keeps flipping from hot to cold to hot again! Hope it isn't hot when I get my stitches out. Mom will use that as an excuse to give me the bath I need. I can see it coming already. BOL!

8 Years Young

Today is my 8th birthday and what an exciting day. I got a few bites of people food, a new toy, a walk, and a special dinner.

I'm happy to be me and I love being with my family. I wish all pups had wonderful homes but sadly many do not. Make sure to hug your pawrents tonight.

Woot Woot!!

I can hardly pawlieve that the Bears won today's football game. I'm sorry if your a Lions Fan, but the touchdown that didn't count even though it looked like a touchdown was a thrilling end for all Bears fans!! I am officially a FAN of the ruling on the process of completing a catch. Tee Hee, what a lucky break!

I'm a happy little Bears fan today (don't worry, I'm sure the elation will be short lived)

3-0 Oh My! Bears are on a roll

Another Bears win and my hunny Brian, with the help of Lance Briggs, made a spectacular play at the end of the game to create a turnover that led Da Bears on the final drive that resulted in a field goal to win the game. My little heart can hardly stand the stress but all is well and Bears are 3-0!

Lets Go Bears!!

Kick off is just about to start so you all know what I'll be doing......Watching DA Bears of course! Let's kick some Seahawk tail and move onto the NFC Championship game. I've been quiet about their division win but I am just bursting at the seams to get them one step closer to the Superbowl. Seahawks are going down today and then on to beat the Packers.
