Another seizure like episode today

It's been awhile since we witnessed one of Mia's seizure episodes but she had one about an hour ago. She did seem to recover fairly quickly and fortunately her respiration rate has not increased dramatically. At this point we feel pretty good that this will not put her back into congestive heart failure. Seeing this is another story though, every time it rips my heart apart. I hate to see her suffer and I desperately pray this is an isolated incident. Sending lots of love and prayers to my baby girl

I'm so pupular they want to see me again

Momma called the vet today because last night I had a second episode. They are concerned with two coming relatively close together so they want to see me again. I have an appointment this afternoon at the U of M at 2:00. I'm not sure what they will be doing. I seem OK right now but there has to be an underlying cause to why these are coming back. When I go there, I feel like I am walking into Cheers. Everybody knows my name! BOL

Back from the U of M

Well, talk about scary.....the roads are still horrible from the foot of snow we got over the weekend making for a scary trip to and from the hospital. We are now back safe and sound

Here's what's going on. They took a chest x-ray and it shows the lungs looking pretty clear so it isn't CHF which is great but nobody knows why these seem to be starting again. We are adjusting my meds so I am getting more diuretics. The problem is it is seriously hurting my kidneys and their values are continuing to climb. They are now wanting to start me on a new diet as well. We're really hoping these changes will help. I am feeling pretty good even after having had the 2 syncope episodes. Now we just hope and pray the tweaking of the meds and diet will help stop the episodes and climbing kidney values.

New pupdate

Mia had yet another syncope episode totaling 3 this week. Each has been after coming in from outside so we considered buying an indoor potty but don't know if she would take to it with her age considering she has always gone outdoors. Plus the vet doesn't think the cold should cause the problem and it is more likely her overexerting herself outside.

Her cardiologist feels if the episodes don't improve with the extra diuretic we started her on Tuesday, it may be something we have to deal with. Unfortunately it looks like we have to evaluate her quality of life if they continue. Right now she is still doing OK even with them. Further increasing the diuretic more than it already has been will likely do more harm on the kidneys than good for the heart. We just have to hope and pray for the best. She starts her new more kidney friendly diet this evening.

No new episodes!

I haven't had an episode for over 48 hours! This is pawsome news and sure makes mom feel good. We don't know if it is due to the fact I have been on the Hydrochlorothiazide for the few extra days or because of all the love and prayers from family and furiends. Yesterday was actually a super duper day! I even ate well and it was the new dog food! Ok, I did get a few treats off the no no list but I love it. Today I don't seem to have that great appetite but I am still acting fine. Ask me how I feel after the Bears play, BOL!!!

I just realized I am closing in on 10,000 views!

Cardiology recheck today

We to the U for a recheck today and saw my FAVORITE vet tech Kristen! She loves me, too. BOL! I love her except when she takes my blood :(

We're waiting on the results and pawraying that the kidney levels are stable. Otherwise, if you are wondering why I haven't posted much it is because everything is quiet right now. I've been doing pretty well and even eating fairly good. Mom is super happy. There has been a little concern here and there but nothing major and I am holding my own. Chester is also doing OK. He's back on antibiotics for the lesions but other than that he is still the same old Chester.

I hope all my pals are doing well and Thanks for all the pawrayers that helped me get to a stable point where I can enjoy each day. I love you all

Great news!!

I finally got some wonderful news! My blood work results came in and it shows a slight DECREASE in my kidney levels since starting the new modified protein kidney diet. I think I deserved some good news for a change :)

Mom is super happy and I have been feeling pretty good lately. Yay! I hope it lasts a long time

Concerning weekend

We are once again on high alert. Mia started having syncope episodes again and they are clustered. She has had 5 in the past 48 hours. She is recovering after each but I was really hoping to either take her in to see the cardiologist today or at least see if they can suggest a medication change. Unfortunately they are closed for MLK Day. I just pray they call early tomorrow so we can try to get this under control. I lose a little piece of my heart with every episode she has. They are terribly scary and disturbing. She is amazingly strong to even recover from them.

I love you Mia, please stay strong while we try and help you get through this.
