Pet-Peeves: Being dirty or wet!! Strangers trying to pet me
Favorite Toy: I'm not a big fan of toys, but recently I'm starting to pay attention to my stuffies.
Favorite Food: I love it all!
Favorite Walk: Wagon Hill, Stratham Hill Park, the beach
Best Tricks: Tricks?!? I don't do tricks!
Arrival Story: We had been discussing adopting a dog for a while, so we went to our local shelter to "look". We found Chipper and he looked so sad. We took him for a walk and he got so excited, we had to take him home! Unfortunatley he was heartworm positive, so we had to wait 2 weeks for him to be treated before he could come home. It was a long wait, but it gave us time to prepare for him to come home.
Bio: Once we had our boy home, we discovered some extreme behavioral issues. Chipper is a huge resource guarder, not fond of strangers, or anyone touching him. He is not very fond of other dogs and can be quite grumpy with them. Thankfully, we found a wonderful trainer and developed a program to help him work through all of these issues. With the support of Dogster friends, Chipper's vet, groomer and trainer, we are well on our way to peaceful living.
Hey pups! OMD! I haven't given an update since May! And do you wanna know why? Well, of course, it's all mom's fault. Back in early June, she flitted off to a cruise to Bermuda with dad, nana, papa and my aunt and uncles while I got banished to the kennel! But that's not the kicker. The kicker is that three days before they left for Drinkfest At Sea 2012, mom found out she was PREGNANT!
That's right, I'm going to be a big brother to a little BROTHER!
Things have been OK around here, but things are changing. This little stinker isn't supposed to arrive until February and he's already rocking my world. Mom says things like "No more night time sleeps in the bed, Chip." and "You are going to have to learn to share Mommy, Chip" and "Start listening to daddy too, Chip.". But I don't listen. I'm just going to keep doing my thing, BOL!
Mom is getting stricter about certain things. I can't bark as much as I used to. I have things to say and I like to say them LOUD! But mom keeps saying "Shhhh, Chippy. You will wake the baby!". Humph.
Mom makes me eat my dinner in one certain spot now and I can only have chews in certain spots too. BORING!
Mom keeps hanging out in the office and won't allow me in there. She makes me wait at the door. She's been doing an awful lot in there lately. She says that will be the baby's room and I need to stay OUT. humph.
There's a lot more gates going up in doorways around here. Mom says I need to get used to being in one room while she's in the other. Who is going to protect her if I can't be right by her side?!? Oh, and FYI, *apparently* barking my fool head off at the gate does NOT make the gate open. BOOOOOO!
We are doing a whole lot of other stuff to get ready for the baby, but I won't bore you with the details.
As much as I think this baby is going to be a pain in my furry tush, I try to let mom know that I already love him. You see, whenever I can get on belly-level with mom, I put my head down and rest my head on her belly. I just stand there and sometimes I sigh. I know there's a baby in there and he's my brother. I'm going to love him and protect him with all I have. Because that's the kind of dog I am.
Pups, it's been two months since my last update! I was thinking about Dogster last night and realized that we have been neglecting my page and all my pals! I think we can all agree that this neglect is the fault of Facebook and the conspiracy of our parents to become friends.
Anyways, the reason I was thinking of Dogster is this....last night, I had the best night!
It all started a lunch time. Mom was making egg salad. She only puts half of the yolks in her egg salad. I poked her in the knee and said "HEY! If you don't want them, I'll take them!" and she gave me TWO egg yolks!
Then, at dinner time, mom and dad shared their LOBSTER and STEAMERS with me! THEN! Mom baked some chicken for her work lunches this weekend. When she was done cutting it up, she gave me the plate with the chicken juice and the a whole lotta chicken pieces!
