Hey guys, this is Kasey, Jaylie's puppy raiser. We just got a call from the vet, that Jaylie's left eye is NOT going to get better, and that she will have to be dropped from the program! That means that she will no longer be able to go everywhere, and she will be a pet. My parents will not allow me to both have another puppy to raise, AND keep Jaylie, so, sadly, Jaylie will have to go into the adoption program through GDA. I'm sure that she will bless someone with her sweet temperment, but I will miss her. I will be able to go and visit her whenever though, and I will still keep up on this page...but, she is a carreer changed dog now. I will be getting a new pup on May fourth. A yellow lab, named Blitz.

I will miss Jaylie TERRIBLY....Terribly terribly terribly. Man, I am going to miss her so much...I will be able to visit...Maybe we will set up play dates for Blitz and Jaylie to play together!

Just an update...

Wow, I haven't been on here in a long time, so I thought I'd just update y'all.

Let's see...Not much has happened lately. I went to Camp GDA, to get skull x-rays, and get my eye looked at. We haven't gotten the results back yet, but boy was I tired when I got home. Then, everything else was normal...I went with my mom to classes, to the store, on fieldtrips, things like that...nothing really out of the ordinary. Oh! But I DID graduate from my puppy class! My mommy says that I was great in that class. (Of course I did great! I'm the smartest dog on earth? Why wouldn't I do great??) We played lots of fun games in that class. On the last day, we played two games. We played Girls against the Boys. (But Jensen, my brother, had to be on both teams, since there weren't enough girls) The first game was kinda strange. All I had to do was heel next to my mom, (How easy is that?!?) while she took a cup of water and carried it across the parking lot, and then we heeled back and gave the cup of water to another teammate. Us girls lost, since we weren't doing it for speed, but for accuracy. (We used that as the excuse for losing) The next game was more fun. It was Tic-tac-toe!! We had a BIG playing board, and then instead of X's and O's, we had sit's and downs. And if any of the other pups broke their down/stay or sit/stay, (I never did, since I'm so smart.) than they would have to leave. If we didn't get three in a row, than the first team that had all of their pups on the playing field won. We won three times out of four!!! (Girls rule!!)

Momma says that she signed me up for the more advanced class. She says that they're not all at the GDA campus! She says that some of them will be at malls and grocery stores or something. I think that'll be fun! I bet we'll have alot of people looking at us, since it'll be like fifteen well behaved puppies at a mall!! Lol, I can't wait!!

Oops!! Momma's coming! I can't let her see that I'm smart enough to read and write, or else I'll end up in the circus or something!! Goodbye!!

Camp GDA!!

Hi all. Jaylie is away at Camp GDA, (hey, I rhymed!) so I am able to sneak onto her account and type away. Anyway, I went to GDA to drop off Jaylie. She was SOO happy! She can always tell where we are, because right before we get off of the freeway there's a tunnel we go through. After the tunnel there's about ten more minutes of driving, and the whole time, she's sitting up trying to get glimpses of the outside world. And when we pull into the parking lot, I have to remind her to "wait" before she jumps out. On our way down to the kennels, we ran into one of her friends, Wissel. Wissel was in heat, so she was boarding there, and her puppy raiser came to visit with her and take her for a walk around campus. We talked to her for a while, and I told Jaylie to "get busy," than we made our way down to the kennels. When we opened the door, Jaylie was already so excited I had to put the training collar underneath her chin, and then there was a Golden Retriever RIGHT through the door. Jaylie was hard to control. She does good when we're just sitting and talking to someone with a dog, but when a dog surprises her, she gets too caught up in the moment to pay any mind to me. We are working MAJORLY on dog control. Anyway, when I dropped her off, we went through the usual stuff, taking off her training collar, writing down all her info, and then handing her to a kennel staff. I think she was even more excited with the new person than she was with the dogs! As she was jumping all over the person, (a DEFINATE no-no) I said, "Goodbye Jaylie!" and she immediately stopped jumping and just stared at me like, "I want to stay here, it's a great place, but can't you be here too?" But then she was taken in the back, met her new roommate, and is probably playing with all getout right now. Every time I bring her back, she is, excuse the phrase, DOG tired. We have a puppy class the night I get her back, so she will most likely be a good girl there!!!

Anyway, Jaylie might see this post when she gets back from camp...Sorry Jaylie!!

Jaylie's puppy raiser, who will remain nameless!!

Hoooh boy...scary.

Guess what! My mommy says that I have to go to the vet next month, for something called "getting spayed." She says that she will probably have to put one of those ugly looking cones around my head too. My sisters are getting spayed at the same time as me, too! Mom says she hopes I don't go into heat anytime before that, or else I would have to leave her for three whole weeks! I wouldn't be able to go anywhere, and I would have to stay in the kennels. Not that I don't like the kennels though! They're tons of fun. I get to play with all of my furry friends, though I don't think I could if I were in heat!!!!

I also have another vet appointment with the optomoligist. (however you spell that!!) As you MAY have noticed by the pictures, I have a lazy eye. I have had that since my mommy brought me home. The people at GDA say that one of my siblings was playing too rough, and hit me too hard. (don't tell my mommy, but it was JORDAN!! (meanie. Lol! Just kidding!)) Anyway, I'm going to the optomoligist, and it's not one of the regular vets at GDA! I have to go really far, so my mommy isn't taking me. And it's VERY early in the morning, so I need to spend the night at the kennels there, and when I wake up, one of the workers at GDA will take me to my (special) appointment. I can't WAIT until I get my eye fixed! Alot of the time, when people are admiring how cute I am, (who wouldn't?) they notice my eye, and when they ask my mommy about it, it takes a long time to explain everything.

(okay, this is Jaylie's mom talking now!!) Jaylie's in her crate, snoring right now. Lol, it is soo cute. She loves her crate. When she's out during the day, she will grab a sock or something she's not supposed to have, and race back to our room, and go in her crate, hoping I'm not following her. It is the funniest thing! I took her to a Basketball game today. I took a VERY funny picture of her, you can see her on the side, and then all of the players behind her. She's looking at the camera as if to say, "mommy, if I can't go and get the balls, then can we leave now?" The whole time we were there, she was SOO bored. We were sitting only a few feet from the players too. At one point, the ball came OB and almost hit her, and she took it all in stride. I am so proud of how well behaved she is getting!!

Talk to you all later, woofs to all of my pup pals!!

Hello everyone, Jaylie the pup here!!

Well, today was a pretty big day for me! My handler, Kasey, took me on a field trip to a museum, with a TON of birds on display. None of them were alive, but they still had all of the smell on 'em! The lady giving the tour said I was the first Puppy In Training they've ever had there! (Or any service dog) As you know, I am a lab, and lab's are major bird dogs. So when I didn't react at all to any of the birds or smells or eggs, everyone was VERY impressed. Then I got to go to the park, and my mommy let me off leash, but I always stay very close to her, and don't try and run away. I got all my wiggles out there, and came home to take a nap.

But not for long! After only an hour or two, my mom took me out of my crate and fed me dinner. She then got my jacket and leash, and boy, I was excited! We got to go to a Poetry Recital, which was very boring for me, although I was a good girl. I laid at mom's feet the whole time, and it was for about an hour anda half! After that, there were lots of goodies. At one point, I lost my patience and tried to steal a peice of cake from a little girl, about my height, but mommy corrected me, and sadly, I did not get the cake. Other than that, my mommy was very proud of my day out. I have not been getting out much lately, so I did really good. Well, Talk to you all later! Bye!

Elementary School's fun!!

I got to go to an elementary school yesterday! First, we went into the principal's office to meet the principal. While we were there, lots of kids (and adults) passed by and said what a good girl I am! After a while, the principal talked into a phone, and, get this, her voice came really loud all over the school! I couldn't believe it. I guess you have to be powerful to be a principal! After that, Mackenzie, the kid who told her teacher about us, led us to her classroom. As we walked in, all of the kids gasped at me. (who wouldn't with my face??) My puppy raiser, Kasey started talking all about me, and what I'm going to do when I grow up. I had heard this a million times, so I was fine sitting at her feet. When she was done talking, the teacher asked her if she could show the kids what I can do. So, Kasey walked to the front of the class, and told me to sit. I did. Then she said down, and I did, stay, I did. She walked across the classroom and then turned around and called me. I started coming nicely, but on the way over, I saw a peice of paper, so I had to stop to sniff it. But Kasey kept me on track. She said, "Jaylie..." and so I came bounding over to her. Then she walked me inbetween all of the desks, and showed the kids what "Leave it" is, and I left it. Then the kids started asking questions. They had a ton of questions! Really good ones too. When we were done there, the teacher told us that the class next door wanted us to come! So, we went there, and did the whole thing over again. It was alot of fun!!

Disneyland!

I got to go to Disneyland for TWO days! Mommy says that I behaved really well. In the middle of the day, she put me in a Down/Stay, and she walked about twenty feet away, and I was fine!!! Even when some people where wistling to me trying to get me over to them. I just ignored them! My mommy was SOO proud of me. I was very tired when we got home though. I got to go on rides, and watch parades, and visit with Mickey, Goofy, Pludo, and a bunch of other disney characters. And in between those things, I got to sit with either my Grandma, or mommy. (Grandma being my moms mom) It was SOO much fun! And when we were at the hotel room, I didn't have to sleep in my crate, because I was being so good and wasn't getting into anything!! Well, just to let everyone know, Disneyland is an AWESOME place to go, and every time we passed someone, (Which we did alot, since it was crowded) we would hear something like, "There's a DOG in DISNEYLAND!!!" It was very funny. Well, talk to you all later!! Bye!!

Hello All!!

Hello, my name is Jaylie, and for my first entry I thought I would introduce all of you who aren't in training to be service dogs, just what that is like. First of all, I would like to say that it is WONDERFUL. You are able to go just about anywhere, and people love you everywhere you go. In one of my pictures I am at a broadway play, and we went to go see Lion King! Everybody there was astonished to see a puppy! After everyone was seated and the play started, I settled down and went to sleep, and didn't wake up 'til the end! (except for during intermission...I had a bathroom break then.) I have been alot of other places too, including the Queen Mary, an olive oil company, the airport, movies, resturaunts, Disneyland, and a ton more places! I am going to go to Disneyland again this thursday! At D-land I am allowed to go on rides! My favorite is Whinnie the Pooh, the whole ride I had my head stuck out trying to see what we were passing. Well, that's enough for now! Bye!!
