My Birthday!

I'm three years old today - or at least today is the day we celebrate my birthday since Mommy had to estimate based on when she adopted me and how old they thought I was when the shelter picked me up. Today has been a great day. I got to go outside for a little bit in the morning, but then I got to spend the rest of the day inside with Mommy. I'm so glad she didn't have to work today so she could spend my birthday with me!

This afternoon, Mommy and Daddy took me out in the truck. Daddy drove, Mommy sat in the middle, and I got to sit by the window with my car-harness seat-belted in. This is the first time I've got to wear this new car-harness and I like it a lot cause the seat-belt strap is still long enough that I can lay down if I want or I can sit up and look out the window.

I saw all sorts of interesting things on our drive. I saw semi-trucks and I even saw a little house on a trailer pulled over on the side of the freeway! First we went to the bank, and I got to watch the little boxes get sucked up the tubes. I thought that was really cool. Next we went to Petsmart! Mommy had to get something for Kody's secret santa that they don't carry at her store. Then she took me down the toy aisle and I got to pick out my very own toy. I got a stuffed beaver with a squeaker. Everyone was really impressed by how I carried it all by myself to the counter. My Auntie Beth was there shopping too so she said hi to me and I got to give her hugs and kisses. Then Daddy drove us to KFC for dinner and I got to eat all the chicken skin and some chicken too. YUM.

Just when I thought the day couldn't get any better, Daddy drove us to the pet store where Mommy works too! So I got to see Mommy's boss who is always so nice to me, and he gave me some treats. I got to stare at the rabbits and the parakeets, and barked hello to the boss's dogs Rodney (a Rottie!) and Molly. At the counter, I got to pick out my own 3 foot long bullystick! And Mommy also got me some cookies for a good cause. The purchase of the cookies goes to a local rescue group here, and the cookies are really yummy!

It was dark by now, so Daddy drove us home. He had to go out tonight, but now I get to laze around in the house some more with Mommy and my siblings. I've already finished my bullystick and had a bunch of cookies, and now Mommy's got something for me baking in the kitchen too. It smells really good so I'm very excited. Gonna go take a nap with my new beaver.

Thank you everywoof that wished me a happy birthday and sent me presents and/or p-mails! I'm so honored to have such wonderful friends here on Dogster to celebrate my woofday with!

Happy Turkey Day!

Now is a good time to finally update my diary and to wish all of my pals a Happy Thanksgiving. I have a lot to be thankful for, and this year has especially been a great Thanksgiving because I got to eat LOTS of turkey!

I'm thankful that I am here writing this entry, first and foremost. If it wasn't for my pawsome friends at Dogster, I never would have made it out of the shelter alive, and I can never thank them and Dogster enough. I'm very thankful that not only was I adopted, but I was adopted by my Mommy because I now have a wonderful forever home with loving parents and siblings. I always have plenty of good food to eat, a warm bed to lay in, toys to play with, and lots of love. And I'm thankful that I got so much turkey for dinner tonight!

Vet Check-up

Today Wrangler, Lola, and I went to the vet for our annual check up and vaccines. Kody didn't get to come with us, and he was very upset about that! Mommy had loaded all of us in Bubbi's car (Bubbi came to help take us - I guess Mommy didn't feel like getting all tangled up in three leashes), and then got in the front seat and went to shut the door. Kody jumped right into the car and into her lap! Mommy pushed him back out, but then he tried to chase the car, so Mommy had to get out and put him in a kennel while we were gone. I felt bad that he had to stay home all by himself. Well, Lulu was home too, but she was inside so that doesn't count.

Anyway, about our appointment. The good news is, we're all healthy! They also scanned me to make sure my microchip was still in place and was readable. It was, so Mommy's not going to worry about getting me an Avid chip (the one I have is from HomeAgain, but Wrangler and Lola have Avid chips). Our vet wasn't there today which was kind of disappointing, but the substitute vet was very nice too. I gave lots of slobbery kisses to the vet tech who helped during our appointment, and then lots of slobbery kisses to the girl who works at the front desk. They were amazed at the amount of saliva my Tongue Of DOOM can produce. I peed on the scale when Mommy weighed me, but I could smell that I wasn't the first to pee on it so I think leaving my mark was justified. Then I drooled in Bubbi's car all the way home. Kody was very glad to see us. And as a reward for being so good today, Mommy gave us steak for dinner! Not a bad day at all, even with getting stuck by all those needles.

Beating the Heat

Mommy's been letting us come inside a lot more often as the summer has gotten hotter. It's been in the 90s and 100s all week. Yuck! I don't mind it too much, but it's definitely been nice getting to come inside and get a break from the heat.

We've been much better mannered while in the house. Mommy's hoping to prove to Daddy that we can be calm and well behaved so we can be inside more often.

Mommy is really proud of me for leaving the cats alone. In the past, I wouldn't hurt them, but I'd really want to investigate them and if they'd run away from me, I'd stalk them and stare at them which made them uncomfortable I guess. I didn't want to hurt them, I promise. Well the cats are getting used to me now, and I'm more used to them so for the most part we leave eachother alone. Stitch is more curious than the others though, and she will actually play with me and let me give her kisses. Mommy is so proud. :)

Our new brother, Kody, isn't allowed inside the house yet - but he also doesn't want to come inside anyway. Mommy doesn't know how he is with cats, cause the one time he saw Tiger in the window he lunged at him and barked, and Tiger fell off the window sill. Mommy also worries that since he isn't neutered and has a habit of marking things outside (mostly Daddy's BBQ grill and his car), he might pee on things in the house.

So Kody doesn't have to be alone outside too much, us girls usually take turns coming inside so that at least one of us will be outside with Kody to keep him company. But there's still times that all four girls are in the house at once, and we still mind our manners and don't get rowdy. See, we can be good!

Dog Days of Summer

Woofs everyone! I finally get a chance to update my diary.

Things are great, besides the summer heat. Luckily Mommy makes sure we have plenty of water and shady spots to go when we're outside. She also runs the ceiling fans on the back porch for us during the day. The fans really make a big difference in giving us some cool air and a breeze.

We spend nearly all of our time outside now-a-days. Our Daddy Bryan likes it that way (since we're kinda naughty about being rowdy in the house), but to be honest, we love it that way too. It's nice getting to run around and play all day. At night, we get to decide when we want to explore or when we want to go to bed (as long as we don't bark while Mommy and Daddy are trying to sleep). Our kennels and beds are outside too, as well as some of our toys. Our best friend, Maggie, comes by to visit a lot. Actually, she spends more time at our house than anywhere else. She's really sweet and fun to play with! We also have a few other doggie friends in the neighborhood who come over to play sometimes. One is Doc, a male boxer who is brindle like me! There's a new hound puppy that just moved into the house behind us, and the next door neighbors' fox terriers come over sometimes too (but they like Lulu and Lola better than me and Wrangler; I think our size kinda scares them). Luckily that cranky old Blue Heeler stays away these days. I chased her off after she bit Wrangler too hard one time - I gotta look out for my little sisters yanno.

Mommy and Daddy still come outside and play with us quite a bit, and we still get spoiled rotten with good food, treats, and toys. Why, just tonight, Daddy cooked steak for dinner, and us girls got all the leftovers! (Which I was especially looking forward too, cause Wrangler got a big piece of steak for her birthday the night before but the rest of us didn't get as much as she did.)

Life is so great. :)

Leash-free!

I've been a good girl all week and have stayed the heck away from those flags. Mommy tried to take me to them a few more times but I sat my butt down and wouldn't let her drag me any closer. I already know better than to get near them! Well that must have been what Mommy was waiting for, because now she's started letting me go outside to play with Wrangler with NO LEASH! Yipee! I can actually run and have a good time. She still stays outside and watches us most of the time, but I'm proving that I can be trusted more and more. Today she let me stay outside for a little bit unsupervised, as long as she could still see me from the window. It's so great being able to run around and play with no leash. Wrangler is really happy for me too, cause it's much more fun when we're both outside playing together.

Yeouch!

Mommy got me this black box that goes on my collar. I thought it was pretty strange, but whatever makes Mommy happy, yanno? Well, yesterday Mommy was gone so her friend Bryan took us dogs outside to do our business. He put my leash on like normal, and let Wrangler outside without the leash. I'm not sure what she's done to get to go outside with no leash, but maybe I'll figure it out soon so I can too.

We walked around the yard a bit - I was in front kinda pulling a little (I know I'm not supposed to, but I was pretty excited to be out for a walk). Wrangler was following behind Bryan, who started leading me towards these white flags. For some reason, that black box on my collar started beeping. Wrangler tucked her tail between her legs and ran back to the house. I watched, thinking she was acting pretty strange, when all of a sudden something zapped me! I reared up and yelped - it hurt! Bryan led me back towards the house and the pain stopped. What the heck is this all about?!

Today Mommy took me out on a leash and took me around to several more of those white flags. Each time I got zapped when we got up next to them. Mommy didn't get zapped though, so what gives? Maybe I should just avoid those darn flags...

I was Valentines Tagged by my pal Riley! I am going to tell you five Valentine wishes, and then tag five friends with a p-mail or rosette. They will then write a diary entry and tag five friends with a pmail or rosette, and so on and so on...

1. I wish for an endless supply of bullysticks!

2. I wish for Mommy not to cry so much and that she would not feel so sad.

3. I wish that I could go take myself for a walk around the neighborhood to chase cats and squirrels without Mommy freaking out.

4. I wish for more RMB nights!

5. I wish for all of my pals to have a Happy Valentine's Day, spent surrounded by loved ones.

A cat?!

There is a cat that lives here! As soon as I got here, I could smell him. But I didn't know just where he was. For the first few days that we were here, there was no sign of him anywhere. Well he's finally come out of hiding. The other day Mommy was about to take me outside to potty, and there he was sitting on the windowsill! I lunged at him cause I was curious, but it scared him and it made Mommy unhappy with me. She told me I have to play gentle because I am very scary-looking to cats, and it makes her nervous because she's not always sure what my motives are when I see a cat. I just want to play with him... I promise... but he doesn't want to play with me. Oh well.

Moved?

Mommy moved us to live with a friend of hers. I'm a little confused as to why. Mommy has been spending the night at this friend's house for awhile now anyway, so it makes sense that she finally moved all of us over here too. But this'll all take some getting used to.

Mommy is very sick so we've spent most of the last few days just napping together. The weather is so cold outside that I don't really want to go out and play anyway. I'd much rather stay inside and snuggled up with Mommy. I've got to keep an eye on her anyway since she isn't feeling well. It's always my job to protect Mommy.
