It has been one month since I passed to the Rainbow Bridge. Mom still misses me everyday, but I know it is getting better.

"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own live within a fragile circle easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan."
-- Irving Townsend

RAINBOW BRIDGE BY AUTHOR UNKNOWN
--------------------------------------------------- --------------------------

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Ella went to the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday morning. After her trip to the emergency vet on Saturday night she was feeling much better.

Then, around 7am on Sunday, her fever came back. We took her back to the vet and found out her high temperature had caused brain trauma. Any treatments would have had very little chance of success, so we had to choose to end her suffering.

Our family is devastated, but, at least, we know our Little Bear is now in a better place.

A Bit of an Emergency!

Mum rushed me to the emergency vet last night! I was coughing, lethargic, and had a temperature! Mommy panicked!

The vet gave me some shots to help lower my temperature and to help me get better. Plus, I have an antibiotic to take for the next week.

I've already pepped back up a lot, but keep your fingers crossed for me!

Growing Up!

I'm growing up so fast! I can wag my tail, growl, and even bark a little. I've also gotten really good at walking, running, and going potty all by myself.

I'm getting so big that I don't like to sleep in my baby basket anymore! When mom puts me in there, I climb right back out! I'm far to grown up for such a baby bed! I want to sleep on the doggy bed with my sisters!

I had my second vet visit today and it was good news all around! I'm gaining weight quickly and now weight a full 1.5 pounds! My temperature is normal and my breathing and heart rate is good!

I had my first deworming medicine too! It was pretty tasty.

Mummy said I was a really good girl. The only thing I didn't like was having my temperature taken! That was not fun!

Hi everyone,

My name is Ella and I am 13 days old. My mommy found me all alone and cold on December 26, 2006. She took me to the vet to have my re-hydrated. She also got lots of information on how to help me grow into a healthy doggie!

I now have to big sisters - Ginger and Connie - who help take care of me! Since I was found on the day after Christmas (and my birthday was estimated as Christmas Eve), my mommy thinks that Connie and Ginger must have wrote to Santa and asked for me!!

My eyes just opened today, so my family is looking forward to witnessing me as I grow and learn to play! I really like it here! It's warm and I get lots of puppy formula and cuddles!
