Arrival Story:
Shiba is the runt of 6 pups. She was born back East and shipped at 6 weeks to California Central Coast. I met her when she was 15 mos and, as with everyone who meets her, it was love at first sight. Her owner, an old friend, said he wanted to place "Maggie" in a good home and would take two future pups in return. I managed to convince him she was a bit small for the breed at 12.75" (standard is 13.5") and it might be dangerous to breed her. So I got her spayed and she is the perfect companion and a great ambassador for the Shiba Inu breed. She is friendly, sweet and highly sensitive and intelligent. Shiba adopted Laura, a friend of mine, and became her companion in Goleta. Adored by everyone, she reigns as supreme Queen. She is able to accompany Laura almost everywhere she goes as Shiba as earned a "certified assistant dog" title and takes care of Laura daily.

Bio:
Shiba did not like being called "Maggie". So I asked her to give me a better name. A few days later, she and Greta were running out in my gelding's paddock. They were having a ball in the 100'x160' area. All of a sudden, I heard "SHIBA". It could only have come from her. So Shiba she became and has been to this day. Everyone at the local dogparks knows her. She goes to each person regardless of gender or age and does her ambassador thing. This cutie pie gives good publicity for our Shibas!

"Shiba gets a new home"

I have a new family!

Several months ago, my allergies kicked in again and mom realized that I could no longer go to the dog park (trees!).

She decided I needed a different situation. She started looking around for the perfect family for me. She knew we'd miss each other so she wanted someone who would let us continue to be friends.

She had a few friends that I was fond of, but the one I adored came by one day and I again showed my absolute devotion to him. He knew his wife would just love me, but would I accept her?

Well, to make a long story short, I went South with mom to go visit. When we arrived, I greeted the "lady" nicely. She seemed to "need" something special in her life.

Mom put me in the lady's car while she went around to get in the front driver's seat. As she did, she glanced back at me and I knew I was in love. I gave her my BEST Shiba smile and made sure that mom and the lady's husband saw it.

We all knew that I was at peace and would be very happy with this family which, by the way, have two perfect aged boys for me to play with, too.

I know that my new mom told my past mom (now Auntie) that I was like a prayer answered. You see, my new mom suffers from MS and really needed someone like me to take her mind off her health.

We go to the beach (grunion run!), to the parks and I got to go to Monterey and stay in a posh hotel. Wow, the treat Shibas well there.

Any dog (& especially me) could not be happier.
