Arrival Story: Tiggles was adopted and rescued from a local high-kill shelter. I was just visiting petfinder.com when I somehow stumbled onto a page of this precious little face, and immediately fell in love. I knew that I just had to adopt her. I traveled to the shelter on a cold Sunday morning to find her in that small cage, smudged in the corner, very frightened and shaking. She just gazed up at me, needing me so. And as I looked into her eyes I saw her story- she had been abused, and was very thin, with matted fur. I knew that it would be difficult taking in such a timid little girl, but I adopted her in an instant. From her sadness, our happiness grew. Now, she definitely has gotten a second chance at a better life. She is making up for all that love that she never had. From her sadness, our happiness grew. And I now realize, that I needed her too. I will never regret adopting her; she is just that funny type of dog that always puts a smile on your face.

Bio: How someone could ever hurt a sweet little face like this, I'll never understand. Tiggles has really came a long way. When I first got her, she was completely unsocialized, unleash trained, very skittish and terrified of everything. Now she is a happy, healthy, lively, little Beagle girl! She is a so precious, and I love her with all my heart. Even though she may be a bit high-maintenance, she's my little angel and I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world. She is my student and my teacher, my follower and my leader, my companion and my partner, the dog of my heart forever. Sometimes we don't get the dog we want, we get the dog we need.
NAME: I believe that the shelter volunteers gave her the name of Tig, and I thought it was a bit too short, so I tried thinking of some names to make it stand for. Tigger? No. That was too close to our kitty's name-Tiger. Tigsie? Nah, that was too close to Tracksie. And then my sister and I came up with the name: Tiggles- a combination of Tickle and Giggles!
LOVES: Walks, food, lots and lots of water, ice, her BoBo, her Kong, Bullysticks, running in circles, other small dogs, agility.
HATES: Loud noises, baths, strange men, anything that has a string with another object at the other end (?) and anything coming quickly in her direction.
Passed her CGC (Canine Good Citizen) test 8/9/07! She's out to show what this shelter dog can do! She has completely turned her life around and is going into bigger and better things.
Forums Motto: Give LOVE to get LOVE-Adopt a Dog!
Only Time:
Serious animal overpopulation causes millions of loving potential pets to be euthanized each year. Pet owners can play a major role in combating this tragic situation by spaying or neutering their pets.
There are millions of homeless animals that are in desperate need of a forever home, many of which are euthanized each day. So please do not breed or buy pets; instead adopt them from a shelter or rescue organization.
Wednesday will mark my 2-year anniversary for being adopted into my loving family.
Once I was a lonely dog, just looking for a home.
I had no place to go, no one to call my own.
I wandered up and down the streets, in rain and snow.
I ate whatever I could find, I was always on the go.
My skin would itch, my feet were sore, My body ached with pain.
And no one stopped to give a pat or to gently say my name.
I never saw a loving glance, I was always on the run.
For people thought that hurting me was really lots of fun.
And then one day I heard a voice so gentle, kind and sweet,
And arms so soft reached down to me and took me off my feet.
"No one again will hurt you was whispered in my ear."
"You'll have a home to call your own where you will know no fear."
"You will be dry, you will be warm, you'll have enough to eat."
"And rest assured that when you sleep, your dreams will all be sweet."
I was afraid I must admit, I've lived so long in fear.
I can't remember when I last let a human come so near.
I knew it was them in a heartbeat, I could tell they felt it too.
They said, "We have been waiting for a special dog like you".
Now every night I say a prayer to God that be.
"Thank you for the life I live and all you've given me.
Dogs live simplistically.
They expect little and own nothing.
They give generously without even knowing it.
Sharing time with these amazing companions repeatedly reminds us of how simple, yet enjoyable, life can be.
With another year about to come to an end, and the inherent craziness that seems to come with the holiday season, this is a good time to learn from, and cherish the dogs in our lives.
