Arrival Story:
My son wanted to get a dog so we went to a pet store to look at different breeds. Since my son, at the time, was a fickle teenager, I knew I would end up taking care of it so I wanted a non-hyper dog. He was looking at Jack Russell Terriers and Boston Terriers, both of which are SUPER hyper. The guy helping us mentioned a dog that would be perfect for us. He left and came back shortly with the cutest cream colored puppy I'd ever seen! He was barely 10 lbs and had a curly tail. The puppy nestled into my arms and looked up at me with the most amazing eyes. Needless to say...it was love at first sight for both of us. Prior to that day I'd never heard of a Shiba Inu. Since that day, I wouldn't own any other kind of dog!

Bio:
My mommy took me to Pittsburgh over the 4th of July holiday to meet relatives. Since my mommy's mom had 3 small dogs with her, I had to spend a lot of time outside. Not that I mind but since there was a very busy highway next to the house, I had to be tied up. That I didn't like very much but I remained a very good boy. I still got to sleep with my mommy at night and I'm glad because it just wouldn't be bedtime if I couldn't snuggle up to my mommy at night!

I'm getting older!

Well, I turned 6 yrs old in July and I guess I'm starting to feel it some. Last Thursday, 31 July, my mom was taking me for a walk and stopped to talk to our neighbor for a few minutes. I decided to lay down in the nice green grass for a while and enjoy the scenery. When I went to get up, I got this very strange feeling and I couldn't stand to keep my paws on the ground. I hunched over and picked up one of my front paws. I couldn't move and I started to tremble. My mom came over right away and asked me if I was ok but of course, I can't talk so I tried to glance at her but I was SO scared! I kept alternating picking up all four feet because I couldn't keep them down. I also tried to walk but it was like I had not control over my legs at all. Luckily, I didn't pee or poop uncontrollably...I would have been embarrased. My mom picked my up and carried me to the front porch and put me down and PRESTO....I was fine! That was the second time this has happend to me, the first being about 3 months ago. It is a horrible feeling. My mom took me to the vet on Saturday which I usually don't mind at least until the guy tried to put a pointy thing up my rear end. I really don't care that it's used to check my temperature...you just don't do that!! Anyway, the vet told my mom to monitor me and record any future episodes for frequency and duration. I REALLY hope it doesn't happen again.

On Sunday, my mom gave me a treat. We went into the back yard andy played with the hose!!! I LOVE that thing!! I love trying to catch that stream of water plus it keeps me cool. The only thing is after it's turned off, I realize that I'm wet so I just have to lay down and start drying myself off. It was fun and afterwards, my mom shared her BBQ chicken with me. It was a great weekend!!

Love,
Cesar
