Arrival Story:
I had just bought my first house and I was eager to get a dog of my own. My parents convinced me I should wait a while and settle in first; get some painting done and a few things fixed up. Over labour day weekend I dog-sat for some friends dalmatian. It was wonderful...instant dog! He fit right in and was already trained. I cried when they picked him up and went to the Humane Society the next day. It broke my heart to see all the lonely dogs in there that needed homes, I wanted to take them all. When I came to Syd's cage, I knew he was the one. He was a liver-spotted dalmatian with one blue eye and one brown. He was unique. I had a little visit with him and had to wait a few days before I could take him home. The woman I met with at the shelter tried to convince me he wouldn't be a good dog. She basically told me all the ways that dalmatians are evil and I would regret the day I got him. I was SO upset!! I am his third owner (he was 3 1/2 when I got him 6 years ago) and I don't know why. He is an adorable cuddly cuddle muffin and I have never regreted my decision to make him part of my life.

Bio:
When I first got Syd I brought him to work with me every day for 3 months. People began to complain so I had to start leaving him at home. Shortly after he told me how unhappy he was with that by eating part of a curtain. Then again a few days later by eatting an entire glass christmas ornament (except for the metal top). Several months after I got him I witnessed him having a seizure. I have been around for 4 of them now over the past 6 years. I hold him and pet him until he seems like himself again. It is really scary, but it doesn't seem to be getting any worse. **Just after Christmas 2005, we discovered Syd had Lymphoma. He was lethargic and wouldn't eat. We decided to try chemo and it brought him back to being his usual energetic puppy self and we got to have him in our lives for another 6 months. He died on July 10, 2006. He was 11 years old. I still miss him every day.
