Arrival Story: I used to belong to an animal rescue group in California. He was one of my "fosters", @ the time his name was Alexander. I went to take him to PetSmart for his adoption show one Saturday only to be suprised when Vicky(president of the group), took our picture, added it to the success stories book, & congratulated me on our new addition to our family(my ex- husband fell in love w/ him & schemed to adopt him). I originally didn't want another dog, afterall I already had one dog & a cat, plus numerous other dogs/puppies @ any given time of which I fostered. Thankfully though my ex got one thing right. Imo is the BEST puppy a person could possibly ask for!
Bio: Imo (Alexander/Alex), & his sister, Cleo (Cleopatra) were found wandering the streets as puppies (8-10 weeks old) w/ rubberbands wound around their tails. Their tails were starting to gangrene (rot) & we had them taken to the Rescue organizations vet to have the tails professionally docked. Alex didn't seem to fit his personality, so we named him Imo (pronounced "eemo"), after a can of guacamole that he discovered & devoured. When I moved to MD from California in Nov. 95 I had to have Imo boarded. I had him flown to MD 4 mths. later @ the tender age of 16 mths. He had a pitstop in Texas where associates of our Rescue group met him, took him on a walk to stretch his legs, gave him water & made sure he was okay before boarding another plane headed to Dullas Airport & me. My family would be empty w/o him. He is 10+ years old going on 3 & the one of the BEST additions to my life. Imo has been a dear & consistent friend to me & a source of UNCONDITIONAL love!! In 2005, Imo had some unknown tumor (?) growing in his sinuses, alongside his brain, after almost a year of fighting that mystery, it was discovered he also had some form of cancer of the blood vessels, don't know the technical name. After a brave fight, plenty of spunk, I had to make the decision to let Imo cross the bridge. It was the HARDEST decision I have EVER had to make. He was a fighter til the end, essentially living just for me.... I know he is somewhere waiting for me...Sadly Imo is no longer with us, there is a hole in my heart and an empty void in our family. We miss you terribly, Meemo!!! RIP 8.25.2006
So sad and heartbroken but I cannot imagine letting go.
I can see it in your eyes,
you are living only for me~ I am already in mourning.
My house will be so empty as will be my throbbing heart.
I will continue to look for your shadow as you so easily became mine.
You have been with me through good times and bad,
You will forever stay with me....
You are the BEST DOG I will ever have~~~
Imo was sooooo amazing. He was a total fighter. He had sooo much heart!!! He was fun and fiesty (even at 12)....LOL He was a bear. He was a bed hog,.... a good boy, a hose lover, actually a lover of all water, he had two cats siblings and played the mediator, he was allowed to "do whatever" he wanted, he had a great Mommy, two white demonia cousins, he taught Dawson how to love the hose and Dawson considered Imo his Role model, he put Roxy in check from time to time (most the time she needed it), he farted a lot and they really stunk, he was known to just bolt and take off in the woods for hours at a time, he rolled on his back and made funny sounds, he was your shadow (could have been his name), he was strong, loving, gentle, liked to use his paws to get your attention, loved all his toys and loved HIS life. If I were a dog I would most def. want to be one of ours!!!!
Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
