Well, our little girl crossed the bridge tonight. The whole family was there to ease the transition for her. Mom and Dad, Hamlet and Denver all held Ginger and said our good-byes as she crossed the bridge and left her pain behind.
She was 18 and had a long life. We were fortunate to share 5 years with her. The last few months were not great but, hopefully she felt that the rest were good.
We hope that she is reunited with her original mom and dad, and has some time to visit with Caramel. We wish her the comfort and care, and while we miss her, we know that she is in a better place.
Run and play girlie-girl! We love you!

We saw Ginger posted on petfinders, list as being at one of our local shelters, Even though we really weren't going to get another one after just having lost Roscoe, we kept thinking about her and finally talked about her. Just when we went to inquire, she was no longer posted, but we contacted the shelter anyway. They said she was in a trial situation. The same day they emailed back and said that it wasn't working out, and gave us the foster parents contact information, and we set up a an appointment to meet her the next day! She and Caramel got along fine, so of course we had to adopt her!
Originally they told us she was six. We just didn't want a puppy because Caramel was almost 17 and really didn't have any patience for puppies by that point. When we got her paper work from the shelter, it said her birth date was 10/31/93. While the date was possibly made up, our vet confirmed that the year was not - she was at least 13 at that point. But... once you fall in love - well you just have to savor every moment you have. As it turned out we found out Caramel had cancer just after we got her, and he was only with us for two more months. It was such a blessing to have her when were at our lowest points with our grief. Two crossing the rainbow in three months is tough!!!! She's still here and going strong at 16 and 1/2 and we are so happy to have her in our life!

Mum was up late last night and was looking at my adorable pictures and suddenly she got hungry. She thinks I look like chocolate and vanilla ice cream all melted and mixed up. She thinks I look like food! Help keep me safe from the ice cream snatcher!
What a cute game that would be!
I am going to start a new game! Here we go......
I am going to tag 10 friends and tell them what kind of ice cream I look like. Then you need to tag 10 friends and tell them what kind of ice cream you look like.
Lets see if it comes back to me! Just make a copy of this and put it in your diary so everyone knows what flavor you look like! Sprinkles count too!
WHISKEY MADE THE GAME UP
Mommy says she doesn't think I look like ice cream, but is if she had to guess it would be peach sherbert.

I got a new brother last week! He's like a pup, young and full of energy. He's taller then me, but thinner. He likes to rough house a lot. He also likes to be on mommy and daddy's lap when ever they are sitting down. I'm not like that. I like my pats and all, but then I need my space!!! It's an adjustment not being the only dog again. When I first got here, I had an older brother, Caramel. But he got lymphoma and crossed the bridge. Before I came here, I had 2 others in my foster home. Riley and Lily - they are my pup pals!

I was tagged by my friend from Poodle University, Luckee. He's a rescue dog like me! He's and apricot mini like my brother Caramel was. And he has the coolest holiday outfits! You have to go see his page and see all his great pictures. No wonder, since his mom is a professional photographer!
Here are the Rules:
Because it's Christmas time there are changes to the rules. Each player needs to write a short note to Santa Paws and list 5 things on their Christmas list this year. Tagged dogs must post the rules in their diary and their letter with 5 requests. Then choose 5 pups to tag and list their names. Let them know by pawmail or rosette that they have been tagged and to read your diary for the instructions on how to play. AND... since it's Christmastime give them each 5bones or treats.
Here's my Letter to Santa Paws :)
Dear Santa Paws,
I have been a good dog this year. I only bark at people walking down the street from 4pm 'til dusk (which is like 4:20 these days!!!!). I sat on grampies lap last time I visited. I don't usually sit on anyone's lap. I think I'm starting to win him over. It's been a tough year. I was only just getting to know Caramel when he crossed the bridge. Sorry about that week of tantrums. I really missed him. I was a good girl for Sharon, the puppy sitter while Mommy and daddy went on vacation. I was well behaved for the weekends with nanny and grampie in the summer. I also did very well when I went to drum corp with Mommy and Daddy when I had hepatitus. So please, for Christmas this year I'd really like:
1. Quackers - my favorite.
2. Mommy to be at home every night
3. The snow to go away and stay away!
4. A new brother or sister . They don't have to be a puppy.
5. A better set of doggy stairs for the bed.
Thanks, Santa and I'll be sure to leave you some yummy cookies. Would the reindeer like some buddy biscuits?
I have tagged:
1. Ginger2
2. Jeannie
3. Cisco's Honey Bear (and the FLF!)
4. Meteor
5. Rudy

I was pretty sick last week. Daddy raced me up to the emergency clinic at 2am on Wed. morning. The gave me lots of tests and medicines. Then we came home, slept for a few hours and then went to the upstate medical clinic. More tests and hydration. I went home with Daddy, but didn't feel like eating so he took me back up to see Dr. Lucas and she gave me some GOOD food. So now I get to eat that all the time. They think I have a thing called Colangle Hepatitis. Mommy and Daddy were supposed to go to Reading, PA for drum corp compition and I was supposed to have a sitter, but they cancelled and Mommy was going to stay home with me. By Friday afternoon I felt much better and was mostly better so, mommy found out that I could come on the trip too!
It was a LONG car ride, but I got to be with my people all weekend. It was really hot on Sat - like 98 degrees the car said... Mommy thought she and I would go back to the hotel for the afternoon (where it was air conditioned!) but I was enjoying being with the people and the heat didn't really bother me.... So we stayed for the whole practice. Then we got to go back to the hotel and cool off before going to the show.
Right before our corp was supposed to go on a big storm came in so we all had to go under the parking area next to the stadium (Albright College?) for about an hour or so. When the drums started warming up I could hear them, and I didn't like it at all! The show went on and they did really good, they came in 3rd with a score over 90! Then we all went back to the hotel and went to sleep. The ride home today was long too, but I didn't mind because it was much better than being home alone!

Let's play a new kind of tag! Summer tag...you're it!
This time I was tagged by my PSG friend Meteor!!
Here are the rules of the game. Make a diary entry, giving 5 pawsome facts about yourself. Choose 5 pals to tag and list them last. Post the rules of the game. Send your pals a pawmail or rosette telling them they have been tagged to play the game. Write 5 facts and tag 5 friends.
My Facts:
1) I like the cool weather much better then the hot - this hot weather takes it's toll on us old girls!
2) My idea of playing is flipping my bone around the room. I don't do fetch!
3) I like the wet food MUCH better then the dry. No matter how well it's mixed, I take the dry out and get every drop of the wet, then leave the dry bits on the floor. Last weekend was really hard at Nanny's 'cuz they gave me this little, light plastic bowl and it kept going all over. Once I chased it all the way into the pantry and another time into the dinning room!
4) I'm a spoiled girl. I have a water bowl in the upstairs bathroom so I don't have to go down stairs if I get thristy at night. And Daddy fixed it so if I get up in the middle of the night and have to hop down from the bed (via the bench) a string of lights comes on automatically so I can see where I'm going.
5) I love watching out the living room windows and barking when anyone goes up or down the street. I want them all to know it's MY house!
I've tagged:
1. My best friend Ginger2
2. My good pal Pumkin
3. My cousin Noble
4. My cousin Maggie
5. The fun loving family!

We went to the 2nd annual Capital District Humane Association picnic for adopters and volunteers. Even though I wasn't adopted from there, we were invited because that's where Roscoe came from. We had a very nice time and met many other dogs and adopters. Mommy entered us into 2 contests - "the best kisser"- but I didn't feel much like giving kisses then and the "pet and owner look a like contest". Mommy went all out for that one - she put on my running suite and then put on her own hoodie to match and pony tales, and we won!!! See my photo album for a picture. The weather was perfect - much better than last year - sunny and low 70's. It was a great day all around!
