Arrival Story:
We had a Great Dane that we had to put down due to bloat. We needed a guard dog because we live in the country. Some people we knew had Maremma puppies. I was unfamiliar with the breed so I did some investigating and it seemed like a suitable breed for our family. We chose Emma because she was an Ivory color, all the other pups were white.

Bio:
Added May 5, 2008: Unfortunetly Emma suddenly passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008. She was the best dog & friend I could ever ask for. She will be greatly missed! Emma is an excellent watch dog. I know her different barks. Like when she barks just to talk to the other dogs in the area, or when she is barking at someone on the road, when someone is coming up the driveway, or when Sydney is taking off out of the yard. She remembers vehicals very well. She knows our family and friends vehicals and never barks at them, even if it's dark she knows. We keep her tied up because she was poisoned once by the jerk down the road (he's been known to do it before). And she will go on "hunger strikes" if tied up too long. She will stop eating, even cookies, unless we untie her and let her go for a run. Dispite her size she is very gentle when playing with the cat or little dogs.

One day I let daphne out, she was heading toward the highway were Emma died for some reason. Me and my mom were shouting out the top of our lungs for her to come back, she didn't listen, finally we heard a yelp, and Daphne came charging back with her tail between her legs. We never knew what scared her, but my mom says Emma warned her to stay away from the highway.
