Likes:
Kiara loves to be by her mommy the most. Trips in the car are a close second.

Pet-Peeves:
She doesn't like other dogs giving any attention to her mommy. And she doesn't like when her cats get too rowdy.

Favorite Toy:
She LOVES the Chuck-It at the dog park. Her favorite indoor toy is any plush toy with a squeaker.

Favorite Food:
She likes the Wellness stews. She also eats the Mounds DogPower food. It's the only dry food she'll eat. She is also a maniac for cheese. She can smell when I open a package and will come running.

Favorite Walk:
Her favorite walk is at the dog park. She also loves to explore our neighborhood. We also like to go to various areas of the city and parks to go for walks.

Best Tricks:
She is really good at the basics (sit, stay, come, leave it, fetch), but the most amazing trick is how high she can jump. She can jump at least 6 feet in the air and touch her nose to anyone's nose.

Arrival Story:
My sister rescued a litter of puppies whose mom had been killed by a car when they were 2 weeks old. I was visiting and playing with the puppies, and this little one climbed into my lap and didn't leave. After talking to my sister, she was the only one who didn't have a home yet. At that moment I knew that she was my doggie. I had no plans on getting a dog, but she was adorable and chose me. We've been inseparable ever since.

I just finished my last class for beginning agility. I passed with flying colors!!!!!!!!! We got to run an entire course tonight. Mommy lost her clicker while she was running to keep up with me. And then she lost her glasses. I would have done even better if she wouldn't have screwed up. ;)

We got certificates too! Mommy said she's going to frame it. Or at least put it in my scrapbook.

I'm so excited! Well, first I need to nap, then I'll be excited. And I'm going to do intermediate agility too. I can't wait until that class starts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Antics of a Picky Diva Pup

Ha ha. I've been worrying mommy lately. See, I'm a super picky eater. When I was a baby and mommy first brought me home, she bought me some dry food and tried to get me to eat it. Nope! I went DAYS without eating. Mom thought I'd eventually get hungry and give in, but nope. I literally went 5 days before she finally bought me some canned food. Ever since then, I've eaten canned food, with a little dry thrown in. Mom leaves out dry food so I have something to munch on, but I won't eat it consistently.

With the recent rash of food recalls, Mom and I are left with no canned food options. Either the ones I've eaten have all been recalled, I don't like the brands (and refuse to eat them), or Mom doesn't think they are nutritionally good for me. So, we're back to dry food. Mom has been trying several different brands, and we found 2 that I like, and will eat, just not enough to keep me healthy. We sent a call out to our Dogster friends about what to do now. The great pups sent back lots of advice and Mom tried some of it. Here are the results:

Putting some chicken broth over the dry food - Mom did that 3 times. I refused to eat it every time.

Putting some tuna on top of it - Refused to eat it

Putting some yogurt on top of it - refused to eat it

Putting some cottage cheese on top of it - first time ate all of the cottage cheese and most of the dry food. The other 2 times, just licked the cottage cheese off the top of the food. See how sneaky I am?

Mom even made a concoction of dry food, tuna, and yogurt and mixed it all up. I refused to eat it.

Last night, Mom decided to try her hand at making something for me. So, she sauteed some carrots, celery, and zuccini and then added some chicken. After the chicken was browned, she poured in about a quart of stock, and added some brown rice and then let the rice cook. It was kind of like a thick puppy soup. She put it in the freezer to cool it off, and then gave it to me. I wasn't sure about it at first, but then I ate almost all of what she gave me. She was so happy!!!!!! I just hope she doesn't try to add any dry food to it. :)

The funniest thing is that when I'm at daycare, they put a little bit of water on the dry food that mom sends with me. And I eat it. Not a lot of it, but I still eat. But, if mom tries that - NOPE! It's fun making mommy frustrated. ;)

Mommy said that she was going to try her hand at some other recipes. I hope I start getting home cooked meals now. I'll have to just keep being picky. BOL. Mom did say something about supplements and she wasn't sure that what she made had everything I needed. She thinks that in tonight's meal (which is leftovers from last night) she might add some cottage cheese and flax seed. Good thing I like those 2 things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My photo shoot

Hi everypup! I have been super busy lately. I'm doing agility training, which I LOVE. One of mommy's friends came to the last class. I love her. It was super fun. I love to run through the tunnels and jump. And bark at the other doggies. I sound mean, but I'm just letting everyone know I'm there, and to stay away from my mommy. I'm super protective of her.

But, last week was a super busy week. Wed was agility. Thursday I was tired and recovering. Friday was daycare, then mommy and I went right from daycare to my granparents' house where there are 8 doggies to play with!!!! Then Saturday, mommy, grandma, and I went back up to Madison and I had a photo shoot. Mommy set up an appointment for me to have my picture taken by a professional photographer. I was a little nervous, but not super scared. The photographer's husband was the assistant, and I'm not too sure about men. I didn't like him touching me too much, but he did give me yummy treats. :) I got to play, and sniff around. And mommy even took some pictures with me. I wasn't scared at all when mommy was in front of the camera with me. We haven't seen the pictures yet, but mommy can't wait. They should be super cute!!!!!

After the photo shoot mommy and grandma had to run a couple of errands, and then we went to PetsMart. I love it there! But, since I was tired, I was kind of cranky. Mommy was buying treats anyhow, but she had to open the bag while we were still in the store so I'd be quiet!! Ha ha. I knew she'd eventually cave. :) Then it was back down to grandma's house where I played some more, and helped mommy feed llamas and ducks. I herded/chased the ducks. And then I was nipping at the llamas when they were naughty. They kept trying to eat the duck food while mommy was feeding them. Mommy was proud that my herding instincts were coming out. Then we all went for a walk with mommy and grandma. Even though I'm a city girl, I like to spend a little time in the country. It's fun to run through the grass and play with the other animals. There was a little altercation with my sister, her daughter, and me, but I'm ok. I only got a couple of scrapes on my back paws and thigh. Luckily I'm a tough girl and fought back hard. :) But mommy was worried and carried me back up to the house and checked me out. Then I got to lay between mommy and grandma on the big electric blanket. I got totally pampered. I even got to sleep with grandma in the big bed on the pillows.

Sunday, all the doggies and I were tired and spent a lot of the day sleeping. Of course there was some play time, but it was mostly sleeping. Then I got to go for a walk with my brother Bart, and my best friend Zach. That wore us out and we all slept some more. Mommy and I came home Sunday night, and I was exhausted. I slept all night Sunday night, and then had daycare Monday. Then I got to visit my friend Riley. I just wanted to lie down, but he wanted to play, so I played a little bit, but then laid down. Once I finally got home, I ate some dinner and went to bed and slept ALL night long. Luckily mommy doesn't have anything planned for me today, so I get to stay home and sleep all day. And then cuddle with her when she gets home from work. Whew! I need my rest for agility class tomorrow!!!!!!

I hope all of my pup friends out in Dogster land had a great Easter and a happy Passover!!!!!!

PS - Mommy's arm is doing even better. She only has 5 more degrees to go before she can straighten it all of the way. Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every week after her physical therapy, we do a happy dance for the progress she made.
