Arrival Story: Root was an accident, we were not planning on getting another puppy. While driving home from work one night, it was very dark, and I accidentally hit a possum. I felt so bad about killing an animal that I decided I should donate some food to the local shelter (save a life for one I had taken). That didn't make me feel any better, so I decided that I should adopt another cat. My sister had just moved to an apartment, taking her cat with her, so I figured that getting another cat would be no big deal. The problem is, both of my cats are older and declawed. I didn't want to declaw a cat, but I also didn't want to get a crazy young cat or a cat with claws that might hurt my cats. I kept looking, but could not find any cats that I thought would fit with my current cats. One day, while I was at the shelter looking, I saw a beautiful dog, so I called my (now ex) to bring my dog (Random) up to meet the dog. They did not get along at all, and we discussed that fact that we should not get another dog. I walked the dog back to its cage, and as I was coming up to the front, I met my (now ex) in front of a cage of puppies. A shelter worker walked up, opened the cage, took Root out, and put us into a room with her, saying, "This was the puppy you wanted to see?" We both thought the other had asked to see the puppy. After a few minutes in the room, we took the puppy! Either that worker was the world's best sales person or someone else didn't get the puppy they were looking for. In any case, I got Root!

Mommy finally got some video to share. She took me outside and we played fetch with my ring. But then she watched it on the camera, and again on the computer, and again after she loaded it onto my page. In the video she says "where’s your ring?" and I keep hearing the recording and getting all excited to play fetch again. The problem is, my ring is outside, so I keep bringing her the ball she lets me fetch in the house sometimes. Silly Mommy!
