Summertime Fun

I just want to thank everyone for the Wonderful Wishes...I really enjoy being the Dog of the Week on Dogster. It was a nice summer surprise. It has been fun reconnecting with all of my fur pals...I cannot thank all you enough for the Sweet messages and Gifts. Trust me no gifts are needed..I love all of you. I wish you Sweet Dreams, Bones, and lots of long dog/cat walks...all Summertime Long.

Hot Summer Temps

Today-I am mostly staying inside the home with my mom. Yesterday i had so much fun my sister she took me on several walks outside. I saw some really funny and scary squirrels and One really pretty Bunny too. I wanted to stay outside longer but it was today. We were in the shade and we all had sunblock on. lol oh after mom types this message for me say said that she will take me outside.

Why own a dog? There's a danger you know,
You can't own just one, for the craving will grow.
There's no doubt they're addictive, wherein lies the danger.
While living with lots, you'll grow poorer and stranger.

One dog is no trouble, and two are so funny.
The third one is easy, the fourth one's a honey.
The fifth one's delightful, the sixth one's a breeze,
You find you can live with a houseful of ease.

So how 'bout another? Would you really dare?
They're really quite easy but, oh, Lord the hair!
With dogs on the sofa and dogs on the bed,
And crates in the kitchen, it's no bother, you've said.

They're really no trouble, their manners are great.
What's one more dog and just one more crate?
The sofa is hairy, the windows are crusty,
The floor is all footprints, the furniture dusty.

The housekeeping suffers, but what do you care?
Who minds a few noseprints and a little more hair?
So let's keep a puppy, you can always find room,
And a little more time for the dust cloth and broom.

There's hardly a limit to the dogs you can add,
The thought of a cutback sure makes you sad.
Each one is so special, so useful, so funny.
The vet and food bills grows larger, you owe BIG money.

Your folks never visit, few friends come to stay,
Except other "dog folks" who live the same way.
Your lawn has now died, and your shrubs are dead too,
But your weekends are busy, you're off with your crew.

There's dog food and vitamins, training and shots.
And entries and travel and motels which cost lots.
Is it worth it you wonder? Are you caught in a trap?
Then that favorite one comes and climbs in your lap.

His look says you're special and you know that you will
Keep all of the critters in spite of the bill.
Some just for showing and some just to breed.
And some just for loving, they all fill a need.

God, winter's a hassle, the dogs hate it too.
But they must have their walks though they're numb and your blue.
Late evening is awful, you scream and you shout
At the dogs on the sofa who refuse to go out.

The dogs and the dog shows, the travel, the thrills,
The work and the worry, the pressure, the bills.
The whole thing seems worth it, the dogs are your life.
They're charming and funny and offset the strife.

Your life-style has changed. Things won't be the same.
Yes, those dogs are addictive and so is the dog game.

A Hot Summer in Oklahoma

Boy oh Boy...it is already very hot in Oklahoma! Today was 94 and kind of humid. It's so hot..that I want a swimming pool. I used to have a big blue one with a slide and I LOVED it. I used to get into trouble for trying to run and jump into in it. I would start out fast and run up the side. My family would get upset because they thought that I might hurt myself. I probably would have so I am glad that they are very protective over me and my health. I am an inside doggie but I sure do pray and think of those pups and kitties outside.
I want to share a short story with you: My mom and I leave out water for the stray dog...that we sort of adopted. She is a sweetheart of an older dog. We call her Lola (after the the Flintstones cartoon)
We love having her out here with us because she keeps the unwanted critters out of our yard. We always check on her in the morning and at night. We are very thankful for Lola and her friendship. Lola makes the summer cooler and we love hanging out with her. I look forward to sharing her picture with all of you. She is like a Big sister to me. We are not sure of her breed. She loves blue, she loves the water sprinkler, and she loves to eat meatloaf. I hope that all of my friends on Dogster will welcome her. Anyway,
to all of the pups and kitties Please have a Safe and COOL SUMMER!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

April Showers bring May Flowers. I hope that this is True. We just spent the past 48 hours worried about the Oklahoma Tornados. So Here is tipping my hat off to the wonderful Creator for not letting those horrible tornadoes hurt us. I thank the Good Lord above. I have faith and believe in Prayer.

St. Patrick's Day

Saint Patrick is most known for driving the snakes from Ireland. It is true there are no snakes in Ireland, but there probably never have been - the island was separated from the rest of the continent at the end of the Ice Age. As in many old pagan religions, serpent symbols were common and often worshipped. Driving the snakes from Ireland was probably symbolic of putting an end to that pagan practice. While not the first to bring christianity to Ireland, it is Patrick who is said to have encountered the Druids at Tara and abolished their pagan rites. The story holds that he converted the warrior chiefs and princes, baptizing them and thousands of their subjects in the "Holy Wells" that still bear this name.

There are several accounts of Saint Patrick's death. One says that Patrick died at Saul, Downpatrick, Ireland, on March 17, 460 A.D. His jawbone was preserved in a silver shrine and was often requested in times of childbirth, epileptic fits, and as a preservative against the "evil eye." Another account says that St. Patrick ended his days at Glastonbury, England and was buried there. The Chapel of St. Patrick still exists as part of Glastonbury Abbey. Today, many Catholic places of worship all around the world are named after St. Patrick, including cathedrals in New York and Dublin city
