Bio:
Stonewall Jackson is a wonderful male boxer that came into LBR's care after he was found wandering the streets and ended up in a shelter. He had to fend for himself and obviously food was pretty scarce because he is very thin. His ribs and hip bones are easily seen under his coat. There isn't an extra ounce of fat on this boy. At some point in his life he was somebody's pet because he has had his ears cropped and tail docked. However, his previous owners didn't care too much for him because they didn't give him heartworm preventative and now he is heartworm positive. He will have to undergo heartworm treatment to save his life. He is also recovering from a bad cold, so it will be a few weeks before he is strong enough to be treated. We believe he is 4-5 years old. He has a little gray in his muzzle, but not too much. He has beautiful markings along with a pretty red fawn coat. Once he's had time to recover and receive proper nutrition, he will be one gorgeous boy. He is very sweet and is a quick learner. He is housetrained and knows "sit" and "come". His foster parents are working on his cratetraining. A note from Stonewall Jackson: I am SO happy to finally be in a home where I am loved and cared for. It was hard having to take care of myself on the street. My foster parents named me “Stonewall Jackson”, which is such a stately name. I respond to Stonewall or Jackson or both. I really like having regular meals and fresh water to drink. My foster sister is pretty neat too. She likes to run when we go out to play. Right now I can’t keep up with her because I get tired fast. But, once I get some weight back on and have my heart worm treatment, I’ll show her! Boy, neighbors can’t believe that I’m the same dog that came here not that long ago. They say it’s amazing what food and a little TLC will do. There’s no more counting my ribs!!!! I had my heart worm treatment and am doing really well. My foster parents keep having to remind me that I can’t run and chase Abby (that’s my foster sister). I just want to run and have fun but they tell me to try to stay calm but hey, I’m a dog and a boxer at that! These people are great but I would really like a forever home and some kids would be oh soooooooooooooo nice. I hear the neighbor kids playing and want to join in so bad but I know I can’t go across the street. I just need someone, even if you don’t have kids, that wants to pet me and give me love, ‘cause I will give you lots and lots of love in return.
