Arrival Story:
Sasha came to us from Afghan Hound Rescue in November of 99. We had just lost our beloved Sable to Cancer in September & I just couldn't handle the quiteness around the house. I missed the tapping of her toes on the floor when I would come home. I had just had my birthday & I thought this would be a wonderful gift a new fur kid to brighten my life.

November 1999, I called my dear friend, who works with Afghan Hound Rescue & asked her if she knew of any dogs needing to be rescued. She knew of 6, so off to Los Angeles we went, just to have a "Look See". Sweet Sasha was the last of the 6, the first five just didn't feel right. She was 18 mos. old, a breeders dog that just didn't seem to fit into anyone's lifestyle. She was small only 23 1/2", 38 lbs, she was born with inverted eyelids, had had corrective surgery that left her eyes leaky. We were told that she didn't like men & that's why she had been returned to the breeder. She had traveled 1 1/2 hrs in the back of a van uncrated and her food had been changed the night before. The poor girl had poop ALL over her coat. She walked over & put her head in my husbands lap & her fate was sealed! Sasha & Craig formed an immediate bond (so much for not liking men). He fell in love with her & she adored him. They slept together, went to work together & cuddled all the time. I loved her too but she was her poppa's girl. We lost our Dear Sweet Sasha suddenly 2 weeks ago to a bacterial infection that invaded her blood stream. It was particularly hard on her Poppa, it was his birhday and 7 years to the date that we had lost our Sweet Sable.
