I Rescued A Human Today

I rescued a human today. Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them. As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life. She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well. Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor.

So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one. I rescued a human today…

Ok... so I know I've been gone a while... and let me tell you - it's been so tough not coming on Dogster to visit all my WONDERFUL pals. Mom decided to get a second job during Christmas, which than continued on until now... then she decided she liked her second job more than her first job so she went full-time to her second job and went part-time to her first job.... did you follow that? Needless to say she's been pretty busy not leaving much time for Dogster... but things seem a little calmer now and we hope to be here much much more because frankly this our favorite place to be!! Oh yeah I almost forgot Mom has also been helping out a dog trainer to trade for training me. So I guess techniqely she has had 3 jobs although the third one is pretty fun.
I hope all my pals have been doing well and I hope to get back in the loop really really soon.

Humane Society Dog-A-Thon

One Pooped Puppy

Wow am I ever EXHAUSTED!! Mom and I have been walking everyday to her work (she works at a Vet so she can take me with her) which is about 1 mile each way, we have been losing a lot of weight (which is PAWSOME and AWESOME!!) however, yesterday, Mom thought it would be a good idea to take a walk to the dog park after work. My friends Bojack and Splinter and their mom Statia came along. They thought they would try to find a short cut to the dog park or at least a path we could take that wasn't on the main road and needless to say it was more of a long cut and we went for a 5+ hour walk plus run at the dog park. I had a GREAT time but I will need a couple more days of sleep to recuperate!! My vet said she was really proud of me though because I am down to 51.3lbs which is right about where I should be. Mom won't share her weight but she is losing too which is TERRIFIC!! I am also learning how to heel and mom says I am doing an awesome job so thats a good thing too!!

I LOVE THE SNOW

Wow... have we ever been lucky this year!! More snow in Seattle!! I can't believe it!! I love it so so so so so much. We were out in the snow til 11:00 last night and then back out in the snow this morning!! There is so much of the fun white stuff everywhere... I can't wait til Mom gets home and we can play in it somemore!! I will sleep by the heater so I will be good and warmed up and ready to play!!

It's Raining

It's raining, it's pouring;

It's Snowing!!!

I am sooooo excited it's snowing right now!! My mom took me outside for a little bit tonight and I got to catch snow balls. I love the snow but my feet get pretty cold... my mom said she will get me some dog boots and a warmer sweatshirt tomorrow. It's supposed to snow all night!! I hope there is lots of snow in the morning. We might even go pick up Teddy Bear so he can play too. I love to roll in the snow... I also love to chase the snow flakes as they fall. I am so glad it's winter!!

Dog School

Well my mom finally decided that it is time I get some formal training... I don't know how I feel about that. We start our first class next week but I don't think I need any training... I listen... most of the time... and I haven't jumped on the counter in 2 whole days... and I always stay out of the cat food... unless the closet door is open.... and I never pull on the leash unless I am being walked. See I am just perfect so I don't see why I need any training at all. Well I will let you all know how the first class goes but I am way too smart for dog training and I really don't need it at all. Well until next time...
