Buddy, Butthead, Major Pain in the a**, booboo

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:

July 17th 2006

Having his chest scratched, playing fetch, going to Petco.

That I don't let him go in the laundry room and eat catlitter.

Favorite Toy:
His green stuffed bear with squeaker, and a cat toy mouse that has a rattle inside that he stole from our cat.

Favorite Food:
Nutro Natural Choice Large Breed Puppy, and Newman's peanut butter dog cookies.

Favorite Walk:
We live on an Army post, so I just walk him around the neighborhood most of the time. We take him to Petco every Sunday and he loves that because he gets to visit all the dogs and people.

Best Tricks:
His best trick is that if you say "Find your toy Major!" he will sit there for a minute like he is thinking about where he last saw his toy and then run and get it and bring it to you.

Arrival Story:
My Husbands Co-worker and his wife brought home a new German Shepherd puppy female, and I just fell in love with it and was already wanting to get a dog soon. I decided to get their puppy's littermate. It's great because we can take him over to their house so he can play with his sister.

Major is really spoiled rotten, my husband says I baby him too much. I think he might be right. My husband gets up before I do every morning, and as soon as he leaves the bed, Major is wanting to get up on the bed and take his spot. Sometimes I do let him. He looooooooooves to have his chest and butt scratched, if you do it he will move his back legs like Thumper from Bambi, its so cute.

Major Grows Up!

My Tail of Devotion for Major

I'm a newly wed and my husband is in the U.S. Army. I have had dogs all of my life, but hadn't had one for about a year, while he was in Iraq. I knew I wanted a dog as soon as we got settled in when he came home. The plan was to get a Boxer, as I had had 2 Boxers growing up and always loved the breed. I looked in the paper, but because we are newly weds and still havent finished furnishing our house, we couldn't afford to spend 500 dollars on a dog. I figured we would wait awhile and save up for a Boxer puppy.
Another soldier that works with my husband and his wife bought a German Shepherd Female puppy. We went camping with them over Labor Day weekend and I just fell in love with their puppy. I had never had a German Shepherd before, but I talked to my husband about getting a puppy from the same litter as their puppy. He was all for it. He said he had a German Shepherd as a kid and they were wonderful dogs. We went that Sunday and looked at the puppies. Major was the only Sable male, the other 2 had tan bodies and just a black muzzle. I wanted the traditional looking German Shepherd and was planning on getting him. I felt like I should pay more attention to the personality of the puppies, but all of them weren't used to people and were scared to death of us. So, I took him home.
I never realized how much easier he would make things for me, being a military wife. My husband is in an NCO academy right now. It basically teaches soldiers to be better leaders once they get promoted to Sergent. Even though he is on post and only a couple of miles away, he can't come home for two weeks. Major has kept me company this entire time, its amazing how quickly I fell in love with the little puppy. I talked to my husband on the phone last night and in tears I said "The only thing that is making this bareable is Major." It is reasuring knowing that if and when my husband gets re-deployed, I will have Major to keep me company.

Not so fun car ride.

Yesterday Mom took me with her to PetCo to see if they had opened yet. I was fine for the first 10 minutes, but that all changed very quickly. She had a towel on the seat incase I got car sick and the Air Conditioning up to prevent me from puking. I ending up getting sick, and instead of throwing up on the seat I threw up on the emergency brake. We pulled over at Dunkin Donuts' parking lot and Mom cleaned up and then we hit the road again. Turns out PetCo wasn't open yet, so we went back home. On the way home I threw up again, only this time on the floor and inside Mom's purse. Mom said its just a puppy thing and I will grow out of it. I just get so upset when we go in the car. Last time we went for a ride, I was fine, but this time I just couldn't handle it.

Today Mom taught me how to sit and lay down on command. I'm so good when there are treats involved! Oh and we worked on my fetching also. Mom is trying to get me to let go of the toy after I bring it back to her. I just wanna keep playing with my green bear but Mom wants to play too so she throws it and I go and get it. After all that training, I got sooooo tired! I took a really long nap. Mom said she hopes that I will go to sleep tonight after all that napping. Im kind of a crazy puppy, and I dont w ant to do anything but bite everything. It's just a puppy thing. I've already torn holes in 2 pairs of Mom's pants. When she walks by me I just cant help but latch on! I only had one accident in the house today, Mom is trying to teach me to go to the door when I have to go potty, but I havent quite done that yet. Anyway I have to go play some more!
