Momma took me to the dogtor yesterday. My wunderful dogtor Nancy is out of the office until Friday so I saw a different dogtor.
Momma's not real thrilled with the service they've given us, so far.
Momma only had enough money yesterday for the exam fee, so the dogtor "examined" me while Momma ran to pick up a paycheck from a customer and go cash it at the bank. They took my blood, but won't run the tests until Momma brings them the $111 to pay for it.
Yesterday she told them she will have that money today, so they said as soon as she gives it to them, they will run the tests. :O

Momma has been doing alot of reading. She hasn't been able to figure out exactly what treatment the dogtor can give if my tests show liver damage or anything else abnormal. All she has read is that they will "hospitalize" and "administer glucose and fluids" by IV. Well, I'm eating and drinking and acting totally normal today. It's been over 2 and 1/2 days since I ate the mints, then vomited them within 90 minutes. So, Momma called the dogtors' office this morning to ask exactly what they could do for me, depending on the blood test results. The dogtor is supposed to call her back. Momma has decided she'd rather speak in person to the dogtor, since we only live less than a mile away, so she's going to hop in the car and go right up there now and talk to the dogtor in person. She's tired of waiting for phone calls since yesterday they told her I needed to be seen immediately, but then when she didn't have a bunch of cash on hand, the treatment was put off.... *hmmmmmm*

My family and I thank our furiends here on Dogster for your loving support and good wishes. We all know how important Power of the Paw is, and the amazing way it can make miracles happen, and we are very grateful for the love and support we've been getting from our pals here. :)

Mom will be back soon and we'll let you all know what the dogtor says! 'Til then, I'm feeling pretty much like my happy, li'l self and I'll be snuggled up with Teddi Sue and my blankie, sleeping by the nice, warm wood stove! :D

Kissies to all! (and 'specially my Kiko!) Zeldy ♥

Glad you are feeling fine.. which is what i hoped for and said as you had been sick within 90 mins of eating the mints.

When they do the ISs.. they do then at the TIME.. not 2 1/2 days after.

Whilst its good to get a liver check... I would frankly be looking for a different vet. One who treats animals in need( animals with owners they KNOW) rather that a vet who seems to be thinking more to paying off their credit cards from Xmas.

Sorry to be blunt... but it isnt like you are not known at the surgery.

New vet... and then a liver check up...

At least you seem to be well.. and THAT is the omportsnt thing.

That's unbelievable that an Emergency vet would withhold treatment for lack of cash. Who has cash in the middle of the night in the middle of a howliday?! To be able to help, and then refuse...that's just so wrong.

You were furry smart, though, to urka the mints as soon as you could! Your mommy was furry smart, too, to give you a "substitute" IV. I hope you keep feeling better and better!

Momma had a vet in Oceanside who has a huge sign posted in his office that says something regarding all services are to be paid for in advance. When a friends Pitbull got real sick and the human did not have any money he called all around to the different vets in the area trying to find one who woulds see his dog and let him make payments afterwards. No one would help him except for Dr. Chang. He had never seen this dog or human before but out of the goodness of his heart he allowed him to bring the sick dog in for treatment and let momma's frind pay on a payment plan. THis same vet also gave momma discounts because she was a frequent visitor - BOL, BOL.

What I'm trying to say is that there is always someone out there that will help it just takes some digging to find that person.

Momma said she would email you some information regarding liver damage.

Glad to hear you're doing so much better, and we'll be praying there was no liver damage.

We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for updates on you!!

Glad that you are feeling better Zelda! Momma is fuming that some vets forget they are there to help the critters and not pad their pockets!

We're so happy that you're feeling better! It's so sad to know that alot of the humans who supposedly "love" us animals would rather see us suffer if there is no money upfront. I know it's a business, but did they just go into that profession for the money? Teddy and Casey
