Ok Here is some extra info about Clovers "going ons"
For about the past 2 years she has had very noticeable difference in energy level and weight gain. Accompanied with frequent urination and nonstop thirst. She would drink tons of water. When I first noticed the difference (almost 2 years ago) I started bringing her to the vet for it to be checked out.
First the vets thought she had something called "Cushings Disease", which is suppose to be more common in Beagles. She had other tests done (blood work & such) Then had this official "Cushings" test done. its an 8 hour test (all day) and is suppose to tell if she definitely has it or not.. ok so test done, she is reported clear of having "Cushings Disease"... now to figure out what the heck is wrong with her?
She was tested for thyroid, ok so she does have an under active thyroid. She started receiving the medicine replacement for it. (Thyro-Tabs) She had a high noticeable difference in energy level and peeing and water consumption went down.
So time passed, Clover seemed to be doing ok and Clovers thyroid level needed to be checked on and off to regulate the level of medicine her body required. But there was more.. on another test She had high level of liver enzymes and her body wasn't responding anymore to the medicine. So the vet increased her Thyroid meds and we had her tested again for liver enzymes.. which was still too high.. it was suggested she could be in the 15% of dogs that were tested neg. for "Cushings disease" but still have it. So yet another test to be done.. an ultra-sound. Which all this "stuff" was going on over the last year and 1/2.
So Yesterday was her Ultra-sound test (5/19/05). It was checking for abnormalities. She' 100% doesn't have "Cushings Disease". It checked her Liver (the high liver enzymes) her Liver is clear of Tumors or cancer.. but it is on the small side. So now we need to schedule more tests. A possible blood tests and then depending on how that turns out.. maybe have to do a biopsy on her Liver. (huh, surgery?)
Clover is a Happy Dog. I just want to get to the bottom of her health troubles.
UPDATE: Ok "we" decided not to do any further testings for now.. just keep treating her for the thyroid problem.. as she is doing ok. But will always keep an eye on how "things" are going.
Unrealated resent find: I was rubbing Clovers Belly.. and found 2 small pea sized "lumps". Took her to the Vet and he feels unless they grow "fast" that they are just "fatty tumors".. which means NON-cancerous. But always a concern with things like this. So when ever I pet Clover I also am checking her for more lumps.. or growth in the ones already found.
