Mom took me to Pet Smart last night. I understand why they call it that. Pet Smart is short for the full name of the store, "Pet Smart-People Dumb"
I went to the store in my Service Dog In Training outfit. Now, I admit I look pretty darn cute in my outfit and people tend to come over 'cause I'm so big and most of them have never seen a Shiloh before. But, I truly had no idea that so many people can't read! I mean, it says right there on my vest "In Training-Don't Pet" and I see people lookin' at the patch, but they go ahead and pet me anyway!!!
Last night, a white shaggy dog gets dragged over to me by his person. She seemed intelligent...I mean, she had a smart look in her eyes. Once she got over to me she took one look at my vest and said, "Wow, a Service Dog in Training! Oh he looks so soft" and then she reaches down and starts pettin' me! I looked up at mom and she just smiled and tried to explain to the lady that when the dogs are training it's always best to ask before you pet them. The lady just kept pettin' me and said, "Oh yeah, I see where that might be distracting for the dog" like the rule applied to everyone but her!
I looked over at the white shaggy guy and he was REALLY embarassed! He kind of rolled his eyes and said, "She's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but she's a good person. She feeds me and loves me and that's just about the most I can ask of her."
I told him, "Yeah, she seems nice enough. Too bad though, 'cause if she was smarter you might be able to get into agility or somethin' really cool."
He just shook his head and said, "Well, whatta ya gunna do. Ya get what ya get when you rescue a human. She does give a good belly rub though"
Belly rubs are important, but I don't think I'd like to be with an illiterate human. Then again it might be fun...I mean they would never know the sign says, "Keep off the grass"

Mom started back to work a few days ago. What a bummer. I like spending the day with mom. Now when dad leaves he leaves me alone in the house. It's been really hot here. It was 109 yesterday! There's really nothing to do in the house by myself except sleep, so that's what I do. Of course that means I'm awake at night. And it's the strangest thing. During the day the corner of our yard has beautiful trees and plants, but at night there are dark monsters over there. I try to protect mom and dad by warning them that the monsters are there, but Dad yells at me to be quiet. Doesn't he know I'm trying to save his life?????
My big brother Austin thinks I'm nuts. He says those are the trees but they look different 'cause it's night time. But I think Austin is getting old and he can't see very well, 'cause those things look like monsters to me! I'm not gunna take a chance with my mom and dad's life so I'll just keep barking. That way the monsters won't get to the house. Besides mom appreciates me, by 3:00 in the morning she always lets me back in the house and has a long talk with me. I wonder why she looks so sleepy?

July 6th was my one year Woodfday! I had a great day. Mom says I'm a little skinny so she bought me a chicken and I got to eat the whole thing!!!! Yummy! But I still don't understand why there was a candle in it...I mean, I'm on a raw diet. She's not supposed to cook anything. Good thing I blew it out really fast so it didn't have time to cook my Woofday Chicken!
Timber II who is now one!

That mom she's a sly one! A couple of weeks ago she told me we were going to the Vet to say Merry Christmas. The next thing I know the vet is shoving an I.V. into my leg and I'm off to sleepy land. I wake up woozy and have a serious pain in my privates!
Sure, Merry Christmas indeed! Now I'm barkin' soprano in the doggy choir. After a few days I was much better and I decided to forgive mom. After all, it is close to Christmas and I can't afford to have anyone upset with me during the gift giving season!
Just about the time I got comfortable, mom takes me to the vet again. This time I'm ready! I laid down on my stomach so they couldn't do anything to me. Mom tried to bribe me with a treat, but I'm smarter than that! Then some big guy comes around the corner and takes my leash. Mom I can argue with 'cause she's a push over, but this guy wasn't really somebody I wanted to mess with. Turns out he took me into the back and while he held me up, another lil' guy pulled out my stitches!!! Geez...a pup doesn't even have a chance!

Wow, I really had a busy day yesterday. First mom and I went to her school and I got to play with my buddy Shadow. She is about 7 months older than I am, but I'm almost as tall as she is now.
We ran around the school chasing each other and playing tag. Then we went into the Social Hall where mom and Carrie worked on their scrapbooks. (That's really pretty boring for me, so I just took a nap)
Around noon, mom said she had a surprise for me and we took off in the car. We drove for about a half hour and then we stopped at a doggie park. When I got into the park I saw another Shiloh! Wow, I couldn't believe it! His name is Kendrick and he is two months older than I am. He's all white just like my dad. Kendrick is a lot of fun. We were running around and then we noticed another Shiloh was coming in. Yep! His name is Cairo and I guess our moms are all on a Shiloh chat group. They found out they live close to one another and set up a meeting. Boy I had fun! Some other dogs came in too, but I had the most fun with my Shiloh buddies.
Mom said we would get together again once the holidays were over. The moms want to go to a training class together so we can all get our Canine Good Citizenship title. That will fun.
It was funny to find out that Kendrick's mom works with the Blind and my mom works with the Deaf and they both have Shilohs! Wow, small world! I can't wait to see my buddies again.

Saturday was Homecoming at my mom's school. I went with her because she had to work a booth and she said she would be really bored with out me (naturally). The school's not a bad place. Lots of green grass and trees. Lots of great smells. Lots of kids who drop food on their shirts. Yup, pretty nice place to spend time...I don't know why mom gets bored there.
We were very busy. Mom and I had to go to the storage and pick up stuff for the booth. Mom put me in the crazy lil' car with no doors or windows. She called it a Golf Cart, but I'm not really sure what golf is. Anyway, once I got used to seeing the ground whipping past me it was kinda' fun. By the end of the evening it was my favorite place to sit while mom helped all the people who came to the booth.
Mom said it was a fundraiser and she was selling tickets and t-shirts. She didn't sell very much. I think maybe she misunderstood what it was called (you know mom is getting older). I think it was a FUN raiser 'cause I had a lot of fun. Almost everyone who saw me wanted to pet me (nice people at that school) And it was fun to watch everyone hands and arms flyin' around. Mom said they were using sign language, but I think they were warming up for a good game of tug-o-war. I kept waiting for them to bring out the rope, but no one ever did...maybe they left it in storage.
There were lots of lil' kids there too. Those are my favorites. When they give me kisses I give them a kiss back and lick up whatever they have spilled on their faces at the same time. Yummmmmm! Great food at Homecoming.
I think I like Homecoming. I get a lot of attention and get to meet new people. Maybe I'll go again.

Yesterday I was officially 11 weeks old. Today mom took me to the Vet. I was really excited because last time I went there the nice lady gave me a cookie. But today wasn't much fun.
When we went in there were a lot of other dogs and mom wouldn't let me play with them. So I had to just lay there and watch all of them come and go. Everyone there said I was really cute. One lady said I looked like a baby duck because I'm so fuzzy. Yeah, right. If there was a baby duck as big as me, it must have been laid by Big Bird on Sesame Street.
When we finally went in to see the Dr. they gave me a shot! What kinda' way is that to treat a new customer. Then to add insult to injury they put me on a scale and told me I was big for my age. Yeah, well I'm going to grow up big and strong so I can help mom at her school. I have ta' be big for that. I weighed in at 25.5 lbs. Not bad.
Just take my advice and if you have ta' go to the vet, don't turn your back on 'em. They either stick the thermometor up your tail end or they give you a shot. Ya jus' can't trust 'em.

When I lived with my fur mom my name was Mr. Red. I liked it because they called me Mr. and it made me feel like a big dog. Then one day the nice lady who took care of us, started calling me Spirit. She said my new mom and dad had decided that would be my name. (I would've like Mr. Spirit, but that's okay)
Now I've been at my forever home for over a week. Something is definately wrong with my new mom and dad. I know my name was written down for them and since they picked it they should be able to remember it (although mom is over 40). But they keep calling me "Timber-I mean-Spirit"
I know I had a brother who died as a puppy. His name was Timber Wa-Ya. He was a great dog. Mom and Dad loved him lots. I told mom that she might as well just call me Timber too. So they changed my name to Timber's Spirit. Now they call me Timber II. I like my new name because my brother was a good dog and I hope I grow up to make him proud. It's an honor for me to be named after him. Mom and dad are happy because they can remember the name and they think it's a nice way to still have Timber Wa-Ya with us.
I just hope they don't decide on something else next week...
