Pet-Peeves: Being away from his people

Favorite Toy: Any stuffie

Favorite Food: Any food (are you noticing a theme here?)

Favorite Walk: Any walk

Best Tricks: Hey, he just got adopted

Arrival Story: I adopted Zurich's sister, Neyla 3 years ago after fostering with my rescue group for about a year. I knew that one day I'd want to adopt a second, but wasn't ready for a while. We kept fostering and even started boarding greys. Dogs would come along that I'd really like, but Neyla wouldn't like them. Or a dog would come along that Neyla loved, but I couldn't stand. Then one day Zurich came along. It was pretty apparent that he was a good match, both for Neyla and for me so the questions was, was I ready to commit to a second dog. I gave myself my vacation to think it over, and decided that I was ready. Two days later Zurich officially became my second dog, and Neyla's brother. I am really eager to see how his personality continues to unfold as he settles in. He already has me in stitches nearly every day with his antics and Neyla is quite busy bossing him around and stealing his toys and treats. I can only imagine how much fun we're going to have with him.

Bio: Zuri quickly adopted the nickname of my "adolescent lab" after I adopted him. He still has many of the traits that earned him his nickname - he's incredibly playful, totally ball-obsessed, loves people and other dogs, and has quite the energy level when playing and in general - but he's also settled in some. He now sleeps on his dog bed in the living room and needs to be woken up in the morning no matter how late we sleep in, and he spends his evenings with us curled up on the dog bed snoozing. This is of course after our hour long brisk walk or trip to the dog park. ;-) Check out Zuri's new pictures that demonstrate his love of the outdoors, including camping and our newest activity, lure coursing!

So like my sister said, yesterday was the annual picnic and my mom took us there to have fun. We got to meet SO many people and dogs it was way COOL. We also got to play games. First, mom had to wear something over her eyes so she couldn't see and then she felt a bunch of dogs, including me and my sis and figured out who we were. She knew me right away because I helped her by giving her kisses like she likes so much.
Then we played a bobbing for treats game. I was so excited to have some treats, but was a little confused when I watched them drop them into my water bowl. Oh well, I went right for them when mom told me to, but I couldn't figure out how to get them out. Suddenly people started laughing and cheering and then we were done. Thankfully mom pulled them out and let me eat them off the ground like a normal dog!
Anyway, it was so much fun. I was SO tired at the end that I just layed down on the concrete and took a nap, then we had some more fun before we came home. Last night, I got to sleep in the bedroom with mom and Neyla for the first time. Must be because I was such a good boy at the picnic. I slept right through until mom got up, even when she snoozed.
Oh, I almost forgot. Mom said I have a new name, Zuri. I don't know what she's talking about, sounds the same to me.

Hi, my name is Zurich. I just got this thing done to me called adopted. I didn't really know what that meant, my new mom said something about a forever home, but then my new sister explained it to me. I get it now, it means that I'm going to live with my mom and Neyla for ever and ever. Which is pretty cool! There are all kinds of things to play with in the house, and stuff to chew on - my favorite is this really smelly stuff I found on the floor in the bedroom one day although once I chewed that up, the rest of them disappeared!
I like to eat too, and I get lots of treats, especially on our walks. Neyla tried to tell me it was called training and that if I'm smart enough I can train mom to give me whatever I want just by doing some really simple stuff. So I'm working on that. Boy, Neyla knows so much, it's a good thing she's here.
I also like to play a lot. In fact, if I could I would just play and eat, play and eat. Another thing Neyla told me is that we're greyhounds and we're supposed to sleep a lot, but I'm not sure if she's right about that one. All I know is I want to play and eat, play and eat!
There's a cat here too, or at least that's what mom says it is. She says I only get to play with her, Neyla and stuffies, not the cat, although I don't see why. He just looks like a little dog, and he acts like one too, so why can't I play with him too?!
Well anyway, it's time to play some more. Talk to you soon.
