It's cooler! It's cooler!!

I've been wondering whether having 4 feet will make me a more effective rain dancer. I think so. I think I'm going to practice some rain dancing in hopes of getting some nice wet weather--which we haven't had for a long time, unless you count the 7 or 8 seconds of sprinkles one night a couple of weeks ago.

I am so glad it's going to be cooler tonight. I was having trouble finding the coolest place to sleep--so up and down, up and down. I know it irritated the pawrents, especially Dad, cause he had to get up at 4 to take someone to the airport.

I hope this is the last of our high temps for the summer.

103 degrees in Seattle...

yep. I think that is an official dog day temperature. I have to admit that I was a little put out when Dad and Rinbot went to a movie this afternoon. I know what that means. They were in an air conditioned place. Did they ask if I would like to go with them? No! I would have been a good pup. After all, when they watch a movie here at the house, I'm good. I usually come up on the couch and sit with them, even if it's a boring film. At least they didn't rub salt in the wound by going to an animal movie.

We are in Heatwave 2009!

Pups around here are getting toweled down with wet, cool cloths. Some are getting cold drinks and frosty treats! I'm glad we have lots of ventilation in our room. I do have a complaint: the peeps don't like to cook in the house when it's this hot. I'm not a big fan of fruit salad and vegetable salad for dinner. I will start thinking really hard about barbecuing on week nights. That's right. barbecuing! And I don't mind if something flies off the barbecue onto the ground. It doesn't even have to be cooked all the way.

we are moving toward our heatwave. It's supposed to get into the 90's here this week. My yard is all dried out and kind of dusty. But at least the pawrents' tomato plants are doing better than they did last year.
Today I met a nice greyhound named Fuzzy. Fuzzy didn't seem very fuzzy to me, though. She had normal, non-fuzzy greyhound hair.

We haven't figured out how to get Bri-guy's video of me getting salmon bites without having to do any tricks to earn them. It might be because it is an iPhone video. Bri-guy has been busy and he and the Rin-bot are going to be in a 24 hour race (!!), so we won't get any tech support till they are back.

I'm trying to get myself into the mood for hot weather. We are supposed to have a heat wave soon. I wonder if there has been a sudden burst of cow emissions that is causing this.

On the loose...

Today Mombot was walking home from the bus stop and thought she spotted a pup walking freely down the sidewalk at the end of the block. She was rushing to see if she could catch up with the pupk when she saw one of the neighbors who had a question for her. Mombot was kind of distracted and enlisted the neighbor to go with her to see if they could find the stray dog. They turned the corner and finally saw someone looking for the escapee. Whew! He didn't have a collar on and had gone quite a way from his home. I'm glad they helped get him back to his owner!
Also Mombot met the new dog on our block. SO CUTE!! I can hardly wait to see her myself. I might invite her to play in my yard, even. She doesn't look a bit like me. She's fuzzy and has stand-up ears that are especially fuzzy. I wonder what it's like to have stand-up ears. I also like to think about how it would feel to have fuzzy hair, but I don't think I would like it during the hot weather we have been having.
Also, I am in a little video that Bri-guy made. I'm going to try to put it on my page when I get some free time at the computer.

Thoughts on cow emissions...from a city dog

I know, I know, haven't I something more productive to do with my limited computer time? I started this elsewhere on Dogster. I had a little bit of extra time, so I did some research on the cow windstorm contribution to global warming.

Apparently, the problem is that cow windstorms consist in large part of methane, a gas that traps 20 times more heat than carbon dioxide. In order to reduce the amount of methane, cows and others (--you, too, peeps!) produce, it is helpful to improve the animal's diet. Poor quality food results in higher methane production.

Unfortunately, in some countries, farmers do not have sufficient money to improve their animals' diets.

So, if peeps can't figure out a way to reduce methane production or don't have sufficient money to invest in this endeavor, they move on to figuring out what to do with the excess wind. Some farmers have figured out how to light their barns with the energy released by their cows. (Think air conditioned dog houses.) Others have started working on ways to power cars with cow wind. I'm not sure what it would be like to be behind such a vehicle.

In any event, you may be able to get your peeps to improve your diet if you let them know that this could help save the environment.

Er-er-er-er-oooo!

That is the sound of a rooster. I heard it early this morning when I was almost home from my early walk. This fellow lives pretty close to me, but I was not allowed to run and find eggsactly where he is hanging out. I found this sound much more eggsciting than trying to chase a cat.
Also, I found out that my neighbors have a new pup. I haven't met her yet. She was staying on a real farm in Eastern Washington. I'm hoping to find out eggsactly what kinds of animals she met on the farm, though.

Wow, there was some liquid sunshine today!

It has been such a long time that it was fun to see it. It was also kind of cold. And I have noticed that it is starting to get dark later and earlier---next thing you know it'll be the depths of winter. But I'm not complaining! At least there are not the really scary thunderstorms here. We did have some thunder and lightning, but ours is really weak stuff--not that it can't hurt stuff, but it is not those really loud, rumbling thunders that rattle the house. Also, we have not been having the 100-degree weather like the peeps had when they were in Louisiana.
Rinbot and Mombot were chuckling about Spanish moss. Rinbot said that when it gets wet it turns green, but then quickly becomes greyish again. That wasn't what they were laughing about though. They were laughing because one of the wedding guests complimented Miss Patty on how nicely she had hung the Spanish moss in her trees.
They thought Miss Patty should have told her the true story of how the Spanish moss got into the trees.
The funny thing about Spanish moss is that it is really an epiphyte that is related to bromeliads. Both live on trees and get their nourishment from the air and rainfall. They are not really parasites at all! Spanish moss can grow to be 25 feet long if it isn't disturbed. I think it would be funny to get a lot of Spanish moss to test as a dog bed.

Everything is pretty much back to the old routine. I'm glad the peeps have a short week so we can have some weekend fun! Let's see, I think there should be a BBQ and some trips to my fave parks. We are due for some nice weather, but I saw that we are officially having El Nino. I will have to check that out. Someone was saying the current by Chile is warm, so it should be easy to catch anchovetas there. I don't think I am supposed to eat those guys unless somepeep takes the bones out. ..
