I had a pretty good day!

It was Sunday, so we got up and went to Magnuson Off-Leash Park where we met my friend Mocha, his mom and grandmom, who was visiting from California. We went up on the new soccer fields where we aren't supposed to go and had fun running and chasing after my Cuz toy. Then my family took me to the parking lot where I watch the car and wait while they have something called coffee. Then they go shopping for groceries.

We went home and I lay out in the sun for awhile. Mombot went some place and didn't take me, but Dad was home. After Mombot came back we went back to Maggie. This time we went around the fields again, but we also went to the beach. I love the beach, even though I don't swim. I sniff people's pockets and a lot of people pet me because I stand really close to them and they see that I have a petting spot on my back.

My girl didn't come to meet us at the park because she had some weird event that she called sectional tournament for Ultimate Frisbee. She plays that game a lot.

I've been helping Dad with some of the chores and I gave Mombot a lot of help with the computer. We changed my Dogster picture so now it shows up instead of just showing a box that you had to click. It was really easy. Mocha's mom told Mombot what she needed to do to fix my picture, so I was glad.

Tomorrow is the work week, so I'll go to the park with my dog walker during the day. In the early morning Mombot and I get up really really early to go to a different park. It's dark when we take our morning walk now.

What do you think "work" is?

Five days out of the week my Mombot and Dad say they go to work. That means Mombot and I have to get up really, really early and most of the time I'm not really ready to get up. After breakfast we walk over to this really cool park that has lots of Canadian geese most of the time. I don't really like them because they make weird noises. Sometimes we see other dog friends, like the one who has a haircut like a lion and thinks he's pretty cool, but Mombot doesn't really spend much time talking to the two-leggeds because she says we have to "hurry." After we get back Mombot takes a shower and gets dressed up and then she tells me to be good and she goes "to work," which is "downtown." She usually takes papers and stuff with her and brings other papers and stuff when she comes back.

My dog walker comes to pick me up and we have a lot of fun with his dogs and other dogs that he walks. Then he brings me home and eventually Dad gets home.

My girl says Dad should take me out for another walk, but ususally he rushes over to his computer.

When Mombot comes home, we check to see if my girl is coming by. I love it when she comes over. Sometimes she brings my favorite Bri-guy with her.

Sometimes my people don't go to work. I know they will not be gone too long if it's "Saturday" or "Sunday. Then they take me with them and they leave the back door open if it's nice so I can lie in the sun or play with Blooey, my Cuz dinosaur. Other times Mombot stays home late and "goes to the dentist." But I don't get to go there. Her mouth smells funny after she does that.

What is work? I never get to go there. I'm not sure why. I would try to be good.

I have found my sister, Sadie, again!

I am so excited! My sister Sadie is one of my pup pals! This is the story: Mombot, my girl and I were at Magnuson Dog Park one day and there was another GSP that looked a LOT like me. Her mom and Mombot started to talk about the similarities and it turned out that we are litter-mates! We were born four years ago in Kitsap County, Washington and the breeder docks his pups tails longer than most.
Sadie went to her mom and I went to some other people who gave me away to the Kitsap Animal Shelter. At the time my name was Trek. The shelter advertised me on petfinder.
My family had just lost their first GSP and were very sad. One morning Mombot was looking at petfinder and she saw my pictures. She called my girl and said what do you think? Girl said yes! Mombot told her to call Dad and tell him to go get me. Dad just barely made it to the ferry in time. He drove to the shelter and retrieved me and brought me home. I wasn't used to riding in a car and I kept my head in his lap all the way home.
after I got home my family changed my name to Daisy because Trek rhymes with a bad word, and it didn't suit me.
The only thing the shelter knew about me was that the other people used to keep me on a 50' line. They thought there were small children in the other family. I don't really remember.
Mombot thinks I actually might have spent some time running loose because I like to hunt for every piece of garbage on our walks, and I'm really good at finding it. One time I found a hamburger in a bun that someone threw into a hedge. Why would someone do something that silly??
Anyway, I have been with my family in Seattle and I like my people a lot because they treat me like the Dog Princess that I secretly am.
I am so happy that Sadie is on Dogster!! Look at her pictures and then look at mine and you will see that we are remarkably alike.

We are still having great weather, and am I ever glad!

It's been really nice this week, and I'm glad because Mombot doesn't have to put on her noisy waterproof pants to take me out. She also doesn't have that pile of damp dog towels on the front porch. If it's wet I have to get "dried off" before we come in the house. I hate that. I never really get dry, as you all know from your own GSP coats. I do not like to wear a coat. My girl got me a silly plaid one that I tear off whenever they try to make me wear it--well, maybe not when it's super cold. She told me their first GSP, Brandy, liked wearing her coat. She would even wear it in the house.

I have had fun reading about the other GSPs that belong to Pointers Plus and German Shorthaired Pointers. There are some great pictures and videos! After looking at them, I am begging Mombot to get some bubbles for me. They look like they would be almost as much fun as chasing my Bluey around the yard.

Gotta go. I think someone just opened the refrigerator, so I have to patrol the kitchen.

It's been kinda boring around here today.

My girl is off playing Ultimate Frisbee again. She has two games, so she didn't meet us at the park. Sigh.
This morning we went to Maggie and met Mocha and played for a while. Then the two-footeds all had that coffee stuff again. I think I smelled a baked treat when they got in the car, so they must have been up to something else besides just drinking coffee.
It has been cloudy all day, so I took a nap before we went back to the park. This time my people talked to a guy up on the field who had an electric airplane. He was flying it all over and then it ran out of power, so he showed it to Dad. They also had a dog with them. I also found some pigeons down on a cliff, so I was really quiet until I got close and then ran at them so they flew away. Then I ran back and forth to see if any of them wanted to come back so we could do it again, but they stayed away. Oh well.
Mombot said it's going to rain soon. That means it's dirty feet time! It also means some of my mud holes are going to be back in business. I love running into the mud holes. I've seen some dogs lie in them, and they get really dirty. Mombot laughs when they start out clean and end up covered with goo. I don't lie in the mud--I just like running into it.

It's October!

My girl calls it Rocktober. I'm not sure why. The two-footeds have been talking about Dad's birthday. I guess it's later this week. Everyone but Dad and me has a September birthday. It was pretty funny this year. Mombot made some cakes and left them on top of the stove to cool while we went to the park. She was in a real frenzy because she had to clean--a big job--I gotta admit--and we needed to go to the park--and we needed to finish getting Charlene's present and stop at the Apple Store for Bri-Guy's present because he and Charlene have the same birthday. So when we got home, Mombot went into the computer room where she stores interesting paper right after she took off my leash. I made a beeline for those delicious-smelling cakes!

I do have a bad habit. I like to counter-surf. And I discovered I could lick and bite into the cakes!! Yum! They smelled so good, I just couldn't help myself. But I gotta confess. I made a little bit too much noise and Mombot came running right away and caught me. She had to cut the two cakes in half and stack them on top of each other. They didn't look so hot, even with the chocolate frosting on them. I got yelled at for "taking licks and bites."

I wonder if Dad is going to have a cake. I hope so. Even if Mombot doesn't make the same mistake and leave the cakes down where I can reach them, I'm pretty much guaranteed some plates will be lickable after they load the dishwasher. I like to help load the dishwasher, because I pre-clean plates if I get a chance.

If Mombot and my girl don't make a cake for Dad, they might make a pie. They made a bunch of apple pies and I liked that because there were dog pies made with extra crust for me.

Gotta go. I just heard someone make noise with Bluey!

Running into fog is fun!

It was foggy at Maggie Park this morning, so I got to run into it. It's weird because it leaves little moist bits on my coat. One of the best things is finding my Cuz toy in the fog. I took my white one today, not the Red Devil!
When we were coming home we had to stop for a while because a line of Canadian geese were slowly, slowly crossing the road. They were smart fellows because they crossed at a corner! They took a long time because they were doing "you know what." I thought maybe Mombot should let me out to help speed them on their way, but she said "No way."

My Mombot has a cold. She sounds funny, and she leaves kleenexes wherever she goes. I love to grab them when I get a chance, so she has to be pretty careful to pick up after herself. I'm trying to help her by being a good girl. I'm not going to whine yet about not going shopping for a Dog-o-ween costume. I'm just worried that they won't have any of the good ones when we do go to the store. If I get shut out, maybe I can go as a poodle!

I thought of some new computer language--BOL. It means Barking Out Loud.

They are gone!

Mombot patted me on the head and gave me a little kiss before she left today. She also said something ridiculous about be Mombot's good girl. Heh! Heh! I was on my dog bed by the kitchen, and I just went back to sleep. It isn't so light early in the morning anymore.
I heard something! I got up and stood on my backlegs so I could see out the window of the back door. Darn! There were two squirrels on the deck railing! Too bad no one is here to let me out. I could try to catch at least one of them. Thanks to trusty Bluey I'm getting really good at maneuvering that curve to the stairs off the deck so I can then make the sharp turn toward the back of the yard.
Oh, well. Guess I'll look around and see if there's something to eat. The dogwalker might be here soon.
Maybe I'll go upstairs to look around. I doubt anyone left the bathroom door open, but you never know. They have stuff I like to sniff and try out in the upstairs bathroom. Darn. I knew they would close it up.
Well, I'll just go up to the Q room and see what's there. Sometimes Dad leaves an apple core up there. I like to nap in the Q room. Q stands for "quiet." But really it should be the S room--S for "sunny." A lot of times on winter days I like to sleep up there in the sun, because it is warm and cozy. I trick my dogwalker. He has to come all the way up to the top of the house to get me.
Oh--speaking of--here he is! We are going to the park and we can play, play, play.

They're gone--continued

Okay, so I just got back from the park with my dogwalker. It was fun. I love to go to the park because my walker knows all the other walkers and that means he stops to talk to them all and usually they have some extra treats that they will give us. I also get to see their dogs, in addition to my walker's pack. Sometimes there are newbies who have never been out with a dogwalker before. That's always funny. Some are shy. Some are really friendly. But none of them know the park like me.
That's because I'm what Mombot calls second generation dog park. This is the story. In the olden days, back when the family's Original GSP was a youngster, there were no dog parks.
Can you imagine a big city with thousands and thousands of dogs having NO dog park? Mombot learned all of the secret trails. You can see some of the "forbidden" park in my dogster photos.

Whew, this is a long story and I need a nap. I'll pick it up soon so you can hear more about this saga.

Shhh!

I'm incognito. Well, neato. I heard Mombot and my girl talking about Halloween costumes again. Mombot thinks I should go to Dog-o-ween as a poodle. She says they would get those rainbow wigs and make me an outfit. There is NO way. I like poodles, and some of my friends are poodles, but I do not want curly hair. I do not want rainbow fur.
So, I have been experimenting. This morning it was dark when we went to the park. This is not my dog park, mind you. It's this big park down by a different lake near our house. Lots of geese hang out there having breakfast before the park people can get over to count them. If there are "too many" geese they catch them and take them somewhere, which is really silly. I could take care of "too many" for them.
Anyway, you know what happens after the geese gobble down their breakfast. I'm sure you know.
Being a GSP, I can smell all kinds of stuff, even if it's dark. I found some organic make-up in the grass after the geese were there, so I tried it out. Now I know what my costume is going to be! It has green spots and streaks and it smells devine. My pals won't know it is me, Daisy, because I don't smell like Daisy. I don't look like Daisy. I have my new "camou" costume. I bet I could even hide in the brush with this new camou outfit and no one would realize that it's Dappled Daisy whose real coat is like vanilla ice cream with flecks of chocolate sprinkled on it. This costume is perfect! I just hope it doesn't rain and wash away my supplies.
Mom said I had to take that stuff off! She rubbed me with a towel because she needed to get ready for work, but I can still see some traces of green on my sides--and I have that alluring smell lingering about me. I bet Mombot doesn't want to "let the cat out of the bag," as they say. I know she wants to save this costume idea for Dog-o-ween. I hope the geese will help me.
I was going to write about the secret places at my dog park, and I will do that, buddies and pals, but I have to wait till Mombot can supervise me on the computer. Have a good time out there!
